Master Shortie - Dead End

My internet connection at home is down while I go through the process of moving house and won't be back until next tuesday. I feel like a part of me is missing. I didn't realise how much I rely on the web until it was taken away from me...thank the lord for wireless access at work - now I can pay my congestion charge penalty notice (don't drive into Central London...) OH WELL!! I deviate from the reason for my post today.

Shouts to Green Money for putting me up on this record. I'd heard about Master Shortie for a while now but hadn't heard any music that had me as excited as the press release seemed to be. Until this record:

This is my tune right now, really well produced, great hook, well rapped. Kinda like a british Gym Class Heroes right? Illsun thinks I've done lost my mind and gone the way of Gnarls Barkley's first hit. What say you?

Craig's HARD talk...

Previously on the blog...

Since then, Craig David has been in the studio and used the same Stat Quo/Dr Dre beat that Giggs turned into a hood classic for his own version of 'Talking The Hardest". Played this on my show tonight to a HUGE response both positive and negative.

Have a listen, see what you think:

Shouts to Spoony for the hook up. What do you think? You want a 'ReRewind' or are you 'Walking Away?'

Cameo borrows his garms....

DJ Cameo wore his expensive hoodie to 1Xtra towers today. To start with, I thought he'd borrowed it from Skepta and stole it from the studio to give back to Joseph however at closer inspection, it was actually a fake...

The Ted Hardy

And here's how Cameo reacted on air..

Shouts to Cameo - it's all jokes!

Last thursday I broke into the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch studios and took over their daily internet TV programme the 5:19 show. Post MOBOoos, we reflected intellectually about the awards. Or maybe we didn't:

Where's the Love for Craig David?

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý

Mistajam | 13:08 UK time, Monday, 20 October 2008

Backstage at this year's NOSHOs MOBOs, I managed to grab a quick chat with Craig David after his performance of "Where's Your Love" alongside Tinchy Stryder and Rita Ora. Here's the video of the interview:

Very interesting responses to some of the questions here - especially from Craig and also about how the collabo with Tinchy came about. I'm not entirely convinced that Craig is back on the garage flex just because he feels he can go back there now grime isn't so prevalent and Funky & bassline have brought melodies back. The fact that the mainstream world isn't as bothered about him post the 2 year long roasting he got with Leigh Francis and Bo! Selecta must have played a part but the jury is still out as to whether this is just a blatant attempt at trying to make him relevant to a black music audience again. All I know is that when I played "Where's Your Love" and "Are U Up 4 This" at Mezz in Leeds on Friday, people lost their minds and knew every word. And both those songs (and even to a lesser extent "Insomnia") are much better than the first single we got from his last album.

Semtex's thoughts - what are yours?

Kanye's next album is shaping up to be a big one. He recently premiered a new track 'Heartless' at an LA gig with T.I. & the blogging community went nutso about it, posting the video that Consequence took of the moment. Well, finally here's a quality video with quality sound so you can actually hear the record:
