Just keep your Love Lockdown...

Post categories: ,Ìý

Mistajam | 03:21 UK time, Sunday, 21 September 2008

I hated it at first. Now I literally can't get enough of this.
Love Lockdown

Lyrics:

I'm not lovin' you, the way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
I'm in love with you, but the vibe is wrong
And that haunted me, all the way home
So ya never know, never never know
Never know enough, til it's over love
Til we lose control, system overload
Screamin no no no, no no
I ain't lovin you, the way I wanted to
See I wanna move, but can't escape from you
So I keep it low, keep a secret code
So everybody else dont have to know

So keep ya love locked down, ya love locked down x 3
You keep ya love locked down, you lose

I'm not lovin you, the way I wanted to
I can't keep my cool, so I keep it true
I got somethin' to lose, so I gotta move
I can't keep myself, and still keep you too
So I keep in mind, when I'm on my own
Somewhere far from home, In the danger zone
How many times did it take til I finally got through
you lose, you lose
I ain't lovin you, the way I wanted to
See I had to go, see I had to go
No more wastein time, we cant wait for life
which is wastin time, wheres the finish line

So keep ya love locked down, ya love locked down x 3
You keep ya love locked down, you lose

I'm not lovin you, the way i wanted to
I met no one new, I got no one new
No I said im through, but got love for you
But im not lovin you, the way I wanted to
Gotta keep it goin, keep the lovin goin
Keep it on a roll, only god knows
If i be with you, baby im confused
You choose, you choose
I ain't lovin you, the way I wanted to
Way I got to go, I dont need you
I been on this road, too many times before
I ain't lovin you, the way I wanted to

Wiley Walks from Label

Wiley at R1 Big Weekend

Wiley's been a member of the RWD forums for a long time and regularly posts on there but it seems in the past few days, he's been airing out his grievances with his now former label Asylum. :

In another Wiley vs. Label saga, Eskiboy is now speaking up about his deal with Asylum Records, the Atlantic Records-linked label that recently put out his massive single, Wearing My Rolex.

After dealings with XL Recordings (Treading on Thin Ice), Relentless (Roll Deep's In At The Deep End) and Big Dada (Playtime Is Over), it seems Wiley has walked out on another record deal. In a series of threads posted on RWD's very own forum grime's 29 year-old Godfather has dropped a few words about signing to big labels. "The problem is when someone thinks they can mould you into something not understanding one day you will wake up and notice. Asylum didn't deserve me," he shockingly said in a thread titled '.

He goes on to reveal full details of his Asylum deal (including finances) and talks about how his management have mishandled his situation. Read his posts on the RWD forum and and and .

DJ Semtex has commented about it on but honestly, I'm not surprised. Wiley has never got on with labels (look at his track record) however I agree with Sem in that it feels as though his career was about to go to the next level with Asylum and it's that he's walked out on. Rather than "bikes car chain and watch" money, he could have had houses, investments, financially secure money...

I'm hearing the album via Asylum will still see the light of day though (the label have got an investment to make back) - it's just such a shame to see someone with so much talent and potential not seeing the bigger picture and walking out on something that could add longevity and a different dimension to their career.

The MOBO award nominations party drew out all the big names...and Timmy Mallet. Please take 10 minutes out to watch one of the funniest things I've ever seen Tim Westwood involved in:

Here's another example of good video idea, well executed. Taking the concept of music being Kano's hustle and music being like a drug, welcome to Kano's version of .

Old Skool Sunday #3

Mistajam | 18:30 UK time, Sunday, 7 September 2008

After a little break last week, OSS is back with 3 more gems from the archives, perfect viewing with your Sunday roast/rice and peas/kebab and chips/pot noodle! It's getting harder and harder to bring this to you each week as the record labels are shutting down embedding from YouTube of all the real classics. Luckily, some fall through the cracks!

Undisputed 90's post New Jack Swing/pre R&B classic from one hit wonder Eric Gable. Written by Osunlade no less (shouts to Uche!)

This one was released when I was 2 but it brings back very vague memories of my Christening. I can remember we had a party afterwards at my mum & dad's house and I spent most of it dancing and dancing and dancing to this, Ashford and Simpson's Solid and Maxi Priest's Should I. Happy times...I think!

And finally, a French House classic. Classic record, classic video, classic material:

Memories?

Wiley - Summertime (The Video)

Prepare to be taken back to the 90's and specifically House Party 2 - The Pajama Jammy Jam:

Love the record, don't know how much support a summer record is gonna get in autumn but the video looks great. Fingers crossed this does something for Will and the album follows without incident.

Roll Deep Jam Session

Post categories:

Mistajam | 23:22 UK time, Thursday, 4 September 2008

September on my radio show is all about artists who have got fresh and new albums coming out in the winter season bringing us exclusive live sessions - every week I'll have a session of the week and every wednesday I'll have a special Jam Session. Week 1 of September and Roll Deep were in the Jam Session Maida Vale studio exclusively for us.

I knew it was gonna be big, but I didn't know how big! The crew showcased material from their forthcoming album "Return Of The Big Money Sound" for the first time on radio with a live band and it was overly sick. They've set the standard for the Fresh and New season! Next week, Sway.

Hey Mr Carter

Affion Crockett was on the MTV show "Wild'N'Out" and was hilarous on that - he's the tall dude who looks a bit like Jay-Z. Well, he's done a parody video of Wayne and Jay's "Hey Mr Carter"

**WARNING - This contains mildly offensive swear words and is hilarious so please have no liquid in your mouth while watching this or you may damage your keyboard from laugh spittage**

Jam Hot: Week 36

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý

Mistajam | 15:42 UK time, Monday, 1 September 2008

Every week I pick one record that isn't just hot, it's Jam Hot and I play it every day on the show. Week 36 and the honour goes to one of the biggest Drum & Bass acts of the moment dipping their toe into the dubstep world and showing us how versatile they are as producers: Chase & Status' "Eastern Jam"

• Chase & Status aka Saul Milton and Will Kennard started producing in 2004, remixing FutureCut's 20/20 track but since then, has tore up the drum and bass scene with such anthems as "Duppy Man" with Capleton, "Dumpling Riddim", "Hurt You", "In Love" with Jenna G and the current 1Xtra D&B Top Ten #1 "Take Me Away"
• Keen to prove they can produce across the genres, 2008 sees them finally releasing their long awaited album "More Than A Lot" which features HipHop, Drum & Bass and Dubstep styles.
• The next single from the album is a double A side with "Pieces" ft Plan B on one side and this week's Jam Hot on the other, an Indian music infused bass heavy dubstep smasher that's also been heavily supported by Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Zane Lowe from our sister station Radio 1
• The sample for the record comes from one of the biggest Bollywood movies "Devdas" - above is a fan made video using footage from the film.

Chase & Status aka Will & Saul will be passing though the studio on Thursday - make sure you lock in, 7-10pm on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 1Xtra. Dun know!
