Jeremy VineNick Griffin, leader of the British National Party, was interviewed by the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's Jeremy Vine on Friday, on Radio 2. What did you think?

He has been a member of the European Parliament since the 2009 elections.

You can read the BNP's manifesto here. (PDF)

What do you think of the BNP's policies? Did you tune in to listen to Nick Griffin? What issues would you like to raise with the BNP?

When for the love of God will you bring our troops home from these unwanted wars, assemble them at John O'Groats and march them South, ridding our Country of the enemy within?

I would ask why isnt there a candidate in the area of Hove, just received my postal vote and the isnt BNP on there. I wont be voting any of the big 3 so that just leaves me with UKIP. I would say good luck Nick judging by the publics opinion re immigration and the top 3 quite obviously unable to discuss it, I am sure you will get many votes.

Why did you allow yourself to be democratically elected to the European parliament a few months ago when you are now stepping down to stand for the British parliament?

    1. If your God forbid your child fell ill and the best surgeon in the country to treat her was a Muslim (there are many Muslim surgeons at Harefield heart hospital and Great Ormond Street) would you insist on an indigenous white surgeon instead?

    1. Why have you never publicly retracted your Holocaust denial, and still failed to do so when given a clear opportunity on Question Time.

    2. Why, as a man who is on record as expressing admiration for the SS, and whose party's policies have much in common with those of the National Socialists in Germany in the 1930s, did you see fit to insult all of those who fought against Fascism in WWII by displaying a photo of Sir Winston Churchill on your desk in your party political broadcast, and a set of military medals behind you?

    3. Why did one of your Party's representatives use the Party Political Broadcast to propagate the lie that asylum seekers are jumping the queue for council housing, when there is no evidence to support this, and they have no such entitlement.

If you were to get a number of seats in parliament, how would you set about putting pressure on the elected government to make a serious reduction of immigrants that are in this country.
The BNP is the only party that say's it will do what the vast majority of British people want, that majority are not racist they just want their country back. The labour party has turned Britain in to a dumping ground for every Tom, Dick and Harry from every corner of the globe because they've all heard, as a nation, we are a soft touch. I personnaly find it offensive for the government of my country to give hand-outs to people who end up on our shores that have no connection with Britain in culture, beliefs or standards, many of whom despise us, whilst pensioners sit in cold houses in the winter months because their pension is so low that they can't afford the money for heating. The labour government say's any household that has an income of less than £16500 P.A. is living in poverty yet a single person, on minimum wage has an income of £12064 P.A. (and there are millions of hard working people on this wage and many more millions earning more than that but less than £16500) and can't get any hand-outs whatsoever, and they have to endure the sight of all the scavengers from without and within, getting everything they have , and more, without lifting a finger. I am as white as he is, work hard & pay taxes. My family are from Switzerland and I enjoy the Italian surname Soldini.

I would like to return to my "ethnic homeland" in the mountains, would I qualify for his grant to emmigrate?

  • Comment number 41.

    There are so many.

But I've still yet to hear him give a coherent and defensible definition of "indigenous" which he constantly bangs on about as if it was an absolute that nobody could possible argue with.

He told Jeremy Paxman that descendants of people like the Huguenots were "OK" because they'd be assimilated into British (or English, he often conflates the two, which should tell you something about what he really thinks) life. Clear implication being that he doesn't think they made any cultural contribution. Same goes for all subsequent immigration. The irony is that Nick Griffin wants to preserve "our culture" purely because it is what we have now not because it was born out of some long standing ideal.

So I'd ask him if he planned to eliminate cultural elements that he perceived to have non-English, sorry, non-British, origins?

to call him a politician is an insult even to them!

We constantly hear about your immigration policy, but what about your emigration policy? If you were to know that we were white, British citizens, would you allow us to leave the country if we desired it so?

  • Comment number 54.

80% of the white British gene pool is descended from the first settlers here after the last ice age some 12,000 years ago. The small invasions of kindred Europeans were changing in elites. These people have assimilated so as to become indistinguishable from the indigenous population. We are every bit as indigenous as the Maoris, Australian aborigines, Zulus, Tibetans, native Americans or any other group recognised by the UN.

Prior to 1948, Britain was 99% white. The terms "social cohesion" and "multiculturalism" did not exist and nobody asked "what does it mean to be British?".

My view is that we have enough ethnic diversity already and the door now needs to be shut so that we can learn to live harmoniously with those already here. Continued mass immigration is CLEARLY making our country very unstable, particularly as the native population resent the changes forced on them without their consent.

  • Comment number 55.

I would ask why he messes up his party's chances of getting votes by having silly policies like reintroducing corporal and capital punishment and offering money to immigrants to leave. I think these ideas put people off voting BNP when their anti-immigration policies are welcomed by a lot of people. With more moderate policies on other issues, I think the BNP would do better at the polls.

About the proposed 50K to be repatriated.
Does this include the geneaology research to establish my origins as either UK (Briton), Spain (Iberian Celt) Germany (Saxon), Italy (Roman), Denmark-Norway-Sweden (Norse)
If it's a mix of all, can I have Norway please.
oh, and a small villa in Tuscany for when winter sets in.

Seriously, £50K is a life changing sum of money to, for example a bloke from Eritrea, Ethiopia etc who has recently arrived in UK illegally.
£50K could establish business, educate family members, build reasonable housing etc. Firstly I don't think you have thought much along these lines, secondly, what's stopping "returnees" from coming back to UK annually, on bogus pasports to pocket close to £1000 weekly?
Personally I would resent paying for this as much as I resent paying for illegals in the first place. Making UK less attractive to illegals will stop them arriving, not rewarding them with benefits, bribes to return and housing.
However cutting benefits will also affect many of your supporters!

Typical answer from a typical BNP supporter.

It's brilliant how you get so defensive when anybody questions the party's policy.

It's also hilarious to see the level of hypocrisy from someone that supports a party so eager to protect Britain's identity as a "White Nation".

    Pure comedy gold.

The BNP is a legitimate party. Berating them, loathing them and silencing them during every interview for their "discriminatory views" is irony in its truest form. They are entitled to an opinion like everyone else.

To be perfectly honest, I for one would love to be proud of this country. With all this PC nonsense we have lost the Great in Great Britain. I think the name "Scared-of-offending Britain" is somewhat more appropriate these days.

I am all for tolerance and respect, but that MUST be both ways. Right now we are being walked on, scared to offend, feeling like second class citizens in our own country is a disgrace.

The low paid earners can top up their earnings with Tax Credits. People over pension age can get Winter Fuel Payments and Pension Credits if their pension is low. Both groups of people can claim Council Tax Benefit.
Before blaming immigrants, you may want to look at the number of 'indigenous' workshy, lazy people scrounging benefits because they can't be bothered to work. There are many people quite rightly claiming the benefits they are entitled to and I have no problem with that, but my biggest concern is with indigenous scroungers who contribute nothing and take everything.

    Compare and contrast:
    A) The hard-working immigrants, that make a real and positive contribution to the British economy, who are happy when they attain the same aspirations as most hard-working people in this country - a decent job, a decent home and a decent family-life; and who are proud when they attain Britsh Citizenship
    B) The large number of Britsh born and bred who are either not prepared to work or seem to expect the state to give them a job where they get given money for doing nothing (On my part, no insult meant to those out of work, and genuinely trying to find a job...)

You're a bit late asking us what questions we would put to Griffin if the programme has already been broadcast.

I was not even aware that he was on the radio - the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ seems not to have given it the publicity that it gave to the three "debates" between Rag Tag & Bobtail.

I wonder why? I am no BNP supporter, but I note a definite ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ policy of sidelining parties other than the Big 3.

Heard of democracy in Whitewash City?

    My Questions for Nick Griffin,

    1) Are you for real?

    2) Do you have any control over the nonsense that comes out of your mouth?

    3) Will you please go away?

yes the bnp are right to fight to keep us british and look after our green country.

I would ask him that if there is a shortage of jobs, housing and school places, if our roads and public transport are overcrowded, if the NHS is at breaking point, if our cities are turning into ethnically divided areas, how on earth will ending immigration help sort these problems out ?…………………………..DOH ! Oh my God I gave just seen the light……..what do I know?, I am of course just a bigot.

Perhaps Mr Griffin, who is is against the war in afghanistan and immigrants can explain why he sat in front of a picture of Winston Churchill... a man who was the son of an immigrant (his mother was American) and who first made his name fighting in Afghanistan? Perhaps its the same reason he used a spitfire with polish squadron markings to campaign against immigration from Eastern Europe i.e he uses our military heritage but has no knowledge of what he's using?

Incidentally the footage of 'British troops landing on D-Day' he used for his election broadcast was another gaff... the soldiers in the film were Canadians landing on Juno beach. Its quite famous footage.

"Noting all I heard was immigration quesions and what is an indigiounous (maybe the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ should hire people who dont need a dictionary for such a simple term), I was very happy with Nicks answers and again see the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ as poor at questioning.

Nick himself said he wanted to talk about economics, yet the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ failed to ask a question beyond immigration, which people dont listen to anyway (they already assume the BNP as racist)."
In the uk - I don’t understand why you are such a diehard BNP supporter, or why you consistently try to deny their racist nature. The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is far from impartial (no matter what it claims) but in this case I think they were correct. The BNP only have one issue; immigration, this is because they only have one tool to help them win votes; fear. It’s no use asking them about the economy as they will have no costed , realistic policies. They will just use the only tool they have to convince everyone that if they get rid of immigrants then everything will be fine. This is an incredibly naive and immature view and I am still confused as why you are so willing to fall for it.

In the actual question I would ask Nick how exactly how he got rid of the racist nature of the party (the NF brigade, who are still affiliated with the party) and how many times has he spoken to someone who isn’t white? (not including that nutty Sikh guy or any photo opportunities!!)

I have just listened to Griffin on Radio 4 and I am now spitting mad. In order to be able to determine whether a caller would be considered English, he said that he would need to be able to SEE that person first!

If you vote for the BNP you are voting for a racist party and as such should be considered a racist yourself.

Should hell freeze over and the BNP ever have any say in the UK government will they be willing to offer me the £60000 to leave? I'd gladly take it.

I've read most of the previous posts on here, and feel disappointed at the vitriol displayed by some of the contributors. Many of them believe that they are making some smart point that hasn't been thought of by others. The most valid comment, in fact, has been the one pointing out that Jeremy Vine has treated this Party Leader in a completely different way from other Party Leaders, asking about his past rather than his intentions for the future.

I'll state here that I am not a BNP supporter. I have a different set of ideals. But Mr Griffin must be allowed to put his manifesto across or we are no better than what many contributors profess Nick to be. If we stifle his voice we are being fascist in our views and it implies we are much more afraid of the views and much more fragile as a country than I have previously believed.

I have tried, throughout this campaign, not to push my own political agenda but to contribute positively to the debates. I also read many other positive comments, some of which have made me think and possibly changed my view on where my natural inclination lies. But the negative comments remind me of negative politics and instead of reflecting badly on Nick Griffin these remind me of the negativity of certain other leaders last night.

Griffin has a dubious past which detracts from any policies his party has, some of which are frankly sensible.

I want to live in England, not a muslim state which is the direction we are rapidly going in.

I'd still never vote BNP though as they seem like a bunch of cranks

  • Comment number 99.

I didn't listen to the broadcast though I will catch it on listen again. I presume Jeremy Vine was as impartial as David Dimbleby was on Question time.

I am a middle aged father of 3 in middle management. Bland if you like. I have Greeks and Indians in my family. I started researching the BNP about a year ago having read in the papers one too many times that they were racist thugs. Since then I have come to understand the truth about the BNP and why there is a campaign of hate against them from the media and mainstream political parties. BNP tell the truth and it is embarrassingly uncomfortable for Labour, Conservatives and Liberals. I have now become a member of the BNP. If you have one ounce of brain that has not been conditioned into believing the lies then look at the BNP for yourself. Don't believe me. Don't believe Cameron or Brown. Don't believe the press. Find out the truth for yourselves.
