Diggin' Out

And so the great veg experiment draws to a close. Today is my last blog for this year, and my little balcony patch is winding down. The lettuce is finished and the carrots are nearly all gone. I still have a reasonable tomato crop, and I really, really need to bite the bullet and stop avoiding my beetroot!

Chris's squash One last piece of good news: it looks like my squash might make it after all! I now have three squash babies on their merry way to becoming fully grown Butternut Squash. Well, three inches is a start, right?

I completed the circle this weekend with a visit to my mum's garden, just as I did in my very first blog, 20-odd weeks ago.Ìý As ever, she has produce coming out of her ears. While it put me to shame, I like to think I have taken a small step up towards her level - and I hope that Dig In has helped some of you do the same.

Chris's Nigel Slater supperI came home laden with jars of pickles, and a bag full of veg from which I made Nigel's lovely Tomato and Courgette receipe. Give it a go if you haven't already,Ìýall the recipes are really easy and very, very tasty!

I will still be checking the comments here occasionally, to see if there are any questions to me over the next few months, so do keep them coming. As Ann and I have discussed in the last couple of blogs, there's plenty of things to keep you busy through the winter, so don't give up now!Ìý

Ann and I also talked about what seeds we should give out next time.Ìý We'd love to hear what you'd like to see in your Dig In packs next spring - please post your suggestions in a comment.

All that is left for me to do now is to say thank you for taking the journey with me. I've really enjoyed going back to my roots (sorry!) with the gardening, and have appreciated your comments both on here, and from people I've met who have followed our progress.

ÌýSee you next year!
