"Yachtgate" continued ...

Andrew Neil | 11:03 UK time, Friday, 24 October 2008

anita203152.jpgI'm back on Monday - my colleague Anita Anand presents today's programme. Here's her run down on what to expect.

It's been a heady week here at Westminster... we've had the seductive mix of yachts, Russian billionaires, house parties, sun, sea - oh and political enemies all partying together in Corfu.. Mix all that together and what do you get?....the page turner known as `Yachtgate'.

At the centre of it all newly ennobled Lord Mandelson and the Shadow Chancellor George Osborne and allegations over the `soliciting' of dodgy donations and allegations of conflict of interest.

On the Daily Politics today we'll have the results of our exclusive ComRes poll on the whole sorry saga - which asks whether in the light of the story both men have the judgement for the high powered positions they hold.

To debate the fallout from all this we're chasing leading Tory and Labour MPs..... As ever throughout the show I'll be joined by two leading political brains....today it's the turn of Evening Standard journalist Anne McElvoy and playwright James Graham who most recently penned `Tory Boyz'.

Also today - more evidence of an economic downturn - figures released this morning are expected to show the UK economy has actually contracted in the last quarter - the first such contraction in 16 years. We'll have the latest on that.

But it's not all doom and gloom...it's Friday - so it's Top of the Political Pops....we'll have a chart run down on the stories you're most interested in. And we'll also have the latest from the Presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and John McCain.

So join me at midday for The Daily Politics and don't forget to email me with your views on all these stories at daily.politics@bbc.co.uk.
