Archives for June 2012

And so it's the day before the four days after...

Chris Evans | 14:05 UK time, Thursday, 28 June 2012

The Children In Need Drive and Dine tour begins at 6.30 am tomorrow morning. Well I say that, it actually begins at 3pm this afternoon when the radio team arrive at my house to start setting up. Tis an incredible effort by all concerned. I have to go to a meeting until four here in London otherwise we could start the party as soon as the got there - probably no bad thing. Treating them to a pizza and some pasta tonight at our local Italian - they're gonna need to carb up if last year was anything to go by.

Peace and Love

Tune into tomorrow from six thirty

We're live from my garage and then it's off to Hampshire !!!

This a mahoosive week...

Chris Evans | 05:13 UK time, Tuesday, 26 June 2012

...for The Breakfast Show and Children In Need. In fact it's probably our biggest week of the year. Our Le Mans - if you like.

Come Thursday ourselves and seven of the most generous souls imaginable, along with their partners, will take to the road in this year's Magnificent Seven Breakfast Show Drive and Dine. We broadcast the beginning from my garage at 6.30 Thursday morning before setting off for The New Forest via Nick Mason's - he of Pink Floyd and ace car collection, Laverstoke Park - Jody Scheckter's place, whilst also taking in Longleat along the way. We round off day one arriving at Chewton Glen for our first overnight on Thursday.

Already thinking - sleep, sleep, must sleep.

Afternoon campers

Chris Evans | 16:49 UK time, Tuesday, 19 June 2012

We are hemmed in here in sunny Berkshire for fear of going our for a loaf of bread and not being able to get back for weeks.

We live very near Royal Ascot you see, and there seem to be millions of people here already - and it's only Tuesday.

There is a dead period between twelve and four - and like high tide on a shallow river - this has to be made the most of.

Hope all is well in your world - every spare minute this week and next is going towards organising next week's Children In Need Mag 7 run.

Lots of tinkering with cars and polishing paintwork for well deserved cups of teas. Lovely job!

Peace and love and more tea!

Hey pussycat dolls and boys of The Blog.

Chris Evans | 13:48 UK time, Wednesday, 13 June 2012

Hope you are well today.

Currently trying to find out whether I am in a go hose or no hose part of the UK. I have a couple of motor cars that would die for a short sharp shower and some car shampoo.

Tomorrow we are declaring the show a herb garden special. To herb or not to herb, that is the question - and what in?

Contain the mint whatever you do, otherwise it will have you evicted from your own home within weeks. An old tin bath rocks, as do old leaky rowing boats pleading for a reincarnation - anything but the tip, or even worse a watery grave.

So that's where we are. And that's where we're going.

I'm so glad we cancelled today's charity golf day on Monsoon Monday!!! It's cracking the flags here today. I give up.

Lol

Moi

Aka Evans Christopher.

Peace and Love and all things good.

To the Tune of Hey Hey We're The Monkees...

Here we come,
Swimming down the street,
We're all soaking wet now,
From our head to our feet

Happy June everyone! Officially no longer classified as a summer month according to the long range weather forecasters.

Surely all this rain has something to do with more moisture in the air due to the polar ice caps melting doesn't it? Or is that just me being an alarmist???

All I know is the A40 looks like Lake Garda and the M25 has merged with the log flume at Thorpe Park.

Good luck out there and stay safe.

Eli says hi...

Chris Evans | 19:28 UK time, Friday, 1 June 2012

...Live from round the corner from Radio 2. Blimey he didn't hang about either. Fifty two minutes from start to finish. And seven pounds thirteen ounces. Mum is rocking, Eli is sleeping and eating and then sleeping again. He's already got it all miles more sussed than his dad.

Have an absolutely fabulous weekend everyone. God save the queen and I'll see you on the telly tonight and on the radio live from Buck Pal Monday afternoon from 5pm for the big gig - all by royal appointment of course.
