One Minute Past Five And The Weekend Starts Here.

Chris Evans | 10:07 UK time, Saturday, 24 July 2010

Just wrapped up for the day with the final, final draft of Book ll - It's Not About Me: Breakfast, Billie and Beyond.

I know it's not a proper job, but after six hours of non-stop "changes" as we call them, my eyes are not speaking to me anymore and my brain has turned into Angel Delight.

I always work down at my garage, so I'm just about to lock up and head back to the house for a full on Noah hug and who knows what (but here's hoping) from Natasha a.k.a. The Girl On The Sofa.

Simon and All Request Friday you are a "must have" in my life tonight.

Have a fab dab weekend blog dudes.

    Aw Christoff enjoy your hug.

I've just had mine, along wit a full-on tussle, pillow-fight, chase around the garden wit the bucket on the head, 3 rounds an' submission, followed by a big snotty kiss on the mazzard, from my own ginger Dynamo, 2-year old Zak.

Nowt better. Now must go get this ketchup outa me hair an' sew up that pillow. Looks like it's bin snowin' in our garden, don't want the tits thinkin' it's a theme park.

Btw. Meant to say, JG. Re #163 last night.

Of COURSE 'e won't go to Yorkshire, hun. 'E's a Wiganer. Most Lancastrian chaps would rather eat Lancashire manure than Yorkshire vegetables, don't you know.

If yous want to get 'im to Liverpool, bribe 'im wit a babby's yed an' pea-wet for 'is tea.

An' anaesthetise 'im wit your 'andbag.

    Clodagh.xx

PS. Or if that fails I'll meet you in Liverpool this week if you like. As long as am not in Llandudno or Morecambe. Or Wigan Starbucks. That's an experience alright.

Morning peeps - just caught up with last night's ramblings oh, sorry pertinent and pithy comments - seems like you were all on top form. I couldn't possibly compete - it would be like gilding the lily.

Bit grey and cloudy here today, but as I don't feel like doing much, it's not bothering me!

Have just had a 'brunch butty' of crispy bacon and black pudding - sorry veggies, but it was delicious.

Have a good day, one and all.

    Evening friends

Apologies for tardy blogging of late. The last couple of days at work have been manic, to say the least.

Thursday I was whisked off to our Doncaster office for some training. It was a really long day, with a text from Scoobs at lunchtime to ask if we could meet up as we were only 2 miles apart! Sadly this wasn't possible but now I know how to get to Doncaster, who knows ....!

Friday I was taken up to our Merseyside office for a meeting, getting back to my office mid afternoon, with loads to do before 5pm ticked round.

Having a lovely weekend so far. My man is umpiring a cricket match today so I took myself off to the gym, did an hour of torture and then relaxed by the pool for a bit with my book, before embarking on a sauna/steam room adventure. I now feel all soft and relaxed.

Nic will be home about half 8, and I've done a moussaka for tea, with a Greek salad, some pitta breads and Tziki. White wine chilling in the fridge and red in the rack. What's the betting he wants beer, of which we have none!?!?

Can't wait to read Book 2 CLP. I hope there's going to be a book tour, and even more, that it takes in Birmingham, as Nic and I would like to come and say thank you in person for "introducing" us via the blog! The pic of you and me (CLP) taken at CiN sits proudly in a frame in the living room - it would be fantastic to have one of the three of us together now, wouldn't it!? (there's always CiN day in November, and I promise not to swear at you this year ....!)

Right, let's see what else is occurin'!

    Evenin all

Looking forward to your 2nd book CLP, have you got plans for a 3rd? ;)

Always wanted to be an author as a kid (that and a librarian, I was obviously a bookish child!) but have ended up as an office jack of all trades. Maybe one day... not the librarian though, did that for work experience, walked miles reshelving books! On the other hand maybe I should go for that, then I wouldn't have to spend my weekends trying to fit a walk in for some exercise.

Have been good today and finally got round to trying to make up for last weekend's lack of walks and excess of bbq grub and cake. Took a circular walk to the nearest post box (to post a birthday card) and then the nearest cash machine (need some cash, the buttons in the purse wouldn't have got me far) and back via another post box or two (nothing left to post in them) and the other cash machine (this was in case, as has happened before, the first one wasn't in working order!) in walking distance. I reckon it was a good mile and a half in all, not as long as the normal Sunday hike, but it'll have to do til tomorrow.

Usually there's a fair gang of us who go for a bit of a wander (of at least 2 miles, we've worked up to 3-4 now) on a Sunday, (average is 4 or 5, think the record was 8 of us) but I think tomorrow there could just be me and one other, so it might be down to me to route set rather than blindly follow (as is my normal approach). Which could be interesting...

Thought the first book was great. Downloading from iprunes and and hearing you read it was the best... can't wait for this one.

Now hone for a few days, the daphster went nuts, as you can expect. Now watching the RSA v Aussies in the tri-nation tournament. Almost wrote tri-wizard tournament.....LOL

Very hot here today in upstate NY, around 90 degrees and about 85% humidity...... the AC is my friend, the AC is my friend. Hope you're all having a good weekend.

  • Comment number 16.

Made it here at last... Do I detect groans emanating from the Ascot area?

Ahhh... Book ll. While perusing a certain South American rainforest online bookstore today, my daughter exclaimed "Chris Evans' book's out!" It can't be I replied, he's still fettling it. On closer inspection it was a Pre-order thingy. "Guess what you're getting for your birthday" she retorted. Roll on birthday I said.

    Finally fettled, what next?

    Hi all

Spent a wonderful afternoon at Sunderland Air Show and I think the Harrier jump jet was the best although the B52 was amazing too.

Ozgirl after having worked in libraries for more than 30 years all I can say is the fittest I have ever been was the spell when all I did was reshelve books for 3 hours each day - very physical and as you say you walk miles too.

Off for a rest - it's the fresh air you know!

    Susan xx

  • Comment number 18.

Bond, I wish you wouldn't do that!!!! 90 degrees indeed. I've just put the heating on - not that it's really cold, just the bloomin' rain.

Hallo Tim the Taxi, Suse, Oz and Deevs.

  • Comment number 19.

Susan: most of my first day of work experience was shelving. I'd worn some new posh boots with much higher heels than normal, big mistake! I limped the mile or so home in my lunch break to find some more worn in flat shoes... poor feet took a while to recover from that week!

Bondy, glad all is well in upstate NYC.

A tad grey in downtown Warrington today. I have had a reet lazy day.

Susan, B52's , errrr , i have very hazy (and Messy) memories of drinking way too many of them a few years ago .

Right, off to do a bit more lazyness .

Annie...... put the heat on???? we're supposed to get thunderstorms this afternoon and back in the low 80s.

Oz, have you soaked your feet yet? I new someone that would put their feet into the toilet and soak them and wash them...... one thing I couldn't quite bring myself to do though

    B52s, I was thinking Rock Lobster.....LOL

  • Comment number 26.

Hi Susan..... "Rock Lobster"........... singing with you.....

  • Comment number 27.

    Susan,

I did more than a fly past after a few of them , but i crashed and burned badly !

Bondy, i am working on a repeat tomorrow . I never usually stop , but this weekend I am totally un- moveable .The most energy used, was to open the box to get the carrot and orange cake out for tea.

    MC xxx

  • Comment number 28.

LOL......MC. I am hoping to get back to the footie playing once my training is done.......

  • Comment number 29.

Bondy: don't think I thought of soaking my feet at the time. Never fear, they have been soaked, showered and washed many many times since that week of work experience. I also learned to go to first days of new jobs in comfy shoes, and save the smarter, more uncomfy, ones til I knew what I was getting in to!

I'm in for a lazy evening, spent over 4 hours at work today as well as being good and doing my circuit. I think I've earnt it. Usual Sunday activities lined up tomorrow, including the walk and the weekly shop, and for a bit of variation I get to pick my mate up from the station at some point in the afternoon. Just hope I don't get too lost on the walk!

    Oz

  • Comment number 30.

    Bondy,

Yes, i bet you have missed that with working long hours etc. I am supposed to be training incase i get a place in the London Marathon. I am struggling to get off the sofa , and keep saying , right , its the first of the month , here i go. Soooo the 1st August is looming .............

  • Comment number 31.

MC: as a wise woman said to me last weekend (when I was muttering about failing to walk that day and letting myself down by breaking the 3-4 month old Sunday habit) the hardest thing is getting out of the front door. Once you've done that, the rest is easy. Hence my trip to the postbox and beyond today. Although I didn't have the gang, I still had a reason to get out and once I'd got out I just kept going. I'm one of those people who need reasons. Maybe I should borrow a dog...

    Oz

  • Comment number 32.

MC , have never done a marathon...... I did the 3.5 mile cooperate run last month and did quite well for me anyway. The potato coach days are normally few and far between so me and the daphster taken them when we can get them......

  • Comment number 33.

    Hi Oz.

i know i am going to ache , so i put it off. I have been incredibly tired lately , not sure what the cause is , as it's more than the usual work day tiredness. Am embarking on a healthy eating plan, so hoping the energy levels rise, and my enthusiasm kicks in . MC x

  • Comment number 34.

Ozgirl: I need a boot up the bahooky too!!! Have been looking at my SVQ folders for the last two days and finding excuses not to open them. Now I'll have to do them tomorrow afternoon. Bums.

  • Comment number 35.

Just back from our street party, well, over an hour ago!!

MC, I am always tired too, simply no energy and the elasticity has gone out of all my joints.

Within minutes of moving, all seems to be ok, but those first movements are very awkward.

I am very much an Ostrich when it comes to health issues, so have decided to aim for a very healthy August.

IF, by the end of the month, things are no better, then I will go and seek out a reason why!

Hi everyone else, just going to read back a bit further.

    MTF.xx

  • Comment number 36.

MC: clean the bath before you go then you can have a soak on your return :) Reward for work well done. Failing that, join me on a Sunday for a walk. Don't wait for the energy levels to rise, start out with a short walk and build from there (and yes, I know I'm a fine one to talk).

Annie: That's not good, but you're not alone in putting things off til the last moment. I really need to do some home filing again, but after a day/ week / whatever at the grindstone, it's the last thing I feel like doing. Ditto ironing and various other household chores :/ One of these days I'm gonna have to bite the bullet.

    Oz

  • Comment number 37.

MTF, you look after yourself , and dont leave it too long. My GP makes reference to being at that "funny age" , which i dont find remotely "amusing" .

Oz , good idea , I'll see what tomorrow brings ;-)

  • Comment number 38.

Don't talk to me about ironing Oz!!!! Got a pile to do - where's Beez when you need her?

    xxxxx

  • Comment number 39.

MC - any doctor making that comment needs a slap round the kisser!!

I swear the GP who said that to me was about 10yrs old - just wanted to ruffle his hair and tell him to bog off.

    xxxx

  • Comment number 40.

Annie: she'll be up there having a good giggle at us and our piles ;)

MTF: hope you're feeling better soon, as MC says, don't leave it too long just incase.

MC: if you walk tomorrow I'll try and do a second walk this week. I really need to loose some weight, and walking is cost free exercise, so the more the better. I need an incentive of some sort to do more walks though, so we could work together on this. Sound like an encouragement plan?

A woman of a certain age!

Nothing to do with the fact that Puffball has no A/C and the blower doesn't work and the exhaust gets so hot that the whole interior is centrally heated to the point where you cant even touch the handbrake!!

    Yes, I have!

    MTF.xx

  • Comment number 49.

ooooo MTF, sounds like your boss needs a clip round the back of the head and told to get your motor fixed......

  • Comment number 50.

I wonder what Mr May would make of my wheels (no AC there either)... I bet he'd be inclined to view them more favourably than Mr Hammond or Mr Clarkson (who both, no doubt, would have a good laugh) which reminds me, I really need to take them to the garage for some tlc. I strongly suspect the poor thing hasn't had much of that in the past 8 years and 6 owners for a mere 41k (of which 5k is mine in the last 6 months). It has service history, but the indicators, windows (electric) and radio have their moments, making me think there are a few loose wires somewhere. Mind, the potholes and speed bumps enroute to the grindstone probably don't help!

MC: let me know how you get on tomorrow :)

    Oz

  • Comment number 51.

Bond, Puffball has been in the garage and they gave me this advice!!

    What a lovely post Chris,

Seems to sum up exactly where you are - sometimes, only your own family can make you feel alright.
I know how that feels right now.....

The tough times seem to be abating and prosperity seems to be on the cards, which is great news as all of the guys can have a well deserved pay rise!
Through all of the recent period of uncertainty, nothing has made me feel safer than that goodnight cuddle from both the children and the CMM.
It's safe to say that if an explosion were to happen near here, right now - I would rush upstairs and grip the CMM like nothing else mattered, and the truth is, that nothing else does!
Maybe we should all do a 'monthly personal stock take' and weigh up who has mattered most, who has been there most and who did you want there most......

I suspect that we would all find ourselves with results that found us in the home rather the office - obvious you may think, but I have just done this test and found that while Laura is my beginning, middle and end...full stop! The people I have spent most of the month talking and moaning to about my problems have been those that I have socialised with and that Laura has no idea what I'm going through.
All she knows is that "work is sh*t" and "I am knackered"
Incredible to think that she is happy enough with such a feeble explanation for why I am not playing my part in our family...

    Well.....

There you go - Rips is back and waffling more than ever.

    Now then.

That said, wish me luck. Am off shortly to Llandudno wit Renee, to check into That Posh 'Otel Up The Front an' sit on the balcony overlookin' the sea wit a nice cuppa an' a Rich Tea, plannin' the surprise attack on whichever Pound Shop will 'ave the best yard brushes an' BOGOF offers on Parazone an' birdseed.

Talkin' a which, this mornin' it's Come Dine Wit Me, Tit Special outside in the back garden. Renee's thoughtfully placed some Ginger Nuts on the bird table, an' there's a gang a tits an' a big fat blackbird 'ad a go an' given' the things a 3 for presentation only, 1 point off for bent beaks. Said birds are currently checkin' out the tit-box while they wait for the Fat Ball Linguini an' Worm Mousse.

And any of yous who know of Renee's culinary exploits will know that's not entirely outa the question btw.

So. Mindful that at the start of the show tomorrow, said mass-poisoner an' meself will be sat sittin' in the nightys on our balcony, lookin' at the waves an' hopin' fervently that Chris does the lovely Singalong with Johnny an' Lynne. Aka Tweeter, Bawl an' Scary.

    Morning campers.

Another lazy day beckons. Am trying to get out of the door, but i cant get the sofa through it too . Am thinking of washing the car , but only at the thinking stage at the moment . Right, i've thought about it ........... nope ........ its not happening . Deckchair and horizontalness seems the best option.

    Hello Everyone.

Having a latte break at the moment!

    Hope everyone's OK.

Aww Maddy, chicken chips and peas! I've not done that in ages - so simple and one of my fave dinners! We're having roast lamb today, although at the mo it's still in the fridge.

So far today I have been beaten at Table Tennis by Sonic The Hedgehog, got eliminted from the pole vaulting, done some trampolining at the Sonic Olympics, beaten Nic's mum at Scrabble on the DS, beaten Nic at Scrabble on a real board with plastic tiles and a green bag and a pen and paper, and now the fellas (Nic and his little man) are watching Doctor Who, hence my being here as it's not my bag at all.

    Don'tchya just LOVE Sundays!?!?!

    Hi Deevs.

No peas, otherwise I would have to get rid of them first in order to start enjoying the chicken and chips.

Ah that takes me back, I used to love playing real table tennis and scrabble, monolopy, cluedo and all the rest of them.

    Enjoy the rest of Sunday!

    Evening each

Rips #55 - lovely post, you're blessed with your family.
Clodagh #62 - Is Llandudno still standing?
Debs #68 - surely there's no choccy left? I'd have eaten the box in one!! Or do you have another?

Is that impressive, or what? Got to the bottom and remembered what I wanted to say.

Hello all - hope your Sunday is as you would wish it...

Annie #75 - Lunch with ex hubby and boys... time before first raised voice, 1 minute - time before first unplanned departure, 30 minutes - time before unexpected "storming" off, 1 hour 30 minutes. All in all a very sucessful lunch. In fact ex thought it was so great he thinks we should do it every month...

    ... Haven't stopped laughing since!!!

    Evenin all :)

Got to my collapse in a heap part of the day without doing so much earlier, despite temptation.

Have been for my regular Sunday walk, we think we did about 4 miles, and when I find a bit of string I'll work it out on the map. We took a wrong turn, so added a few hundred feet in error before realising we couldn't cross the river there! Later on, we couldn't find the path back across the fields. We know it's there, we've used it before, but when the thistles are taller than you and only leave you 6 inches width to walk in there isn't much point trying to find the path so we opted to continue by road. This easily added a mile to our hike, probably more since partway along the road we passed a sign telling us it was 1.5 miles to the village we'd started from, and the road joins at the north end and we wanted the south end!

Twas a tad warm out, and I'm glad I took a litre of water with me, all gone by the return to base, as was a glass of cold squish shortly after. I then braved the weekly shop (knowing if I sat down that'd be it for the day), had some lunch and went to claim my friend off the London train. Had a drink and a catch up with her and then returned here to make tea, eat it, clean the bathroom and collapse. I fully intend treating myself to a soak in the bath in a bit, assuming I can stay awake long enough!

What I want to know is do I have to do a 2nd walk this week MC?

    Hiya all

Have had a strange mix of busy and chilled out day here

Packed some boxes and did some washing this morning, then chilled out this afternoon and went to a bellringers gathering this evening to meet our new vicar and her hubby

Lovely evening sitting in the garden, chatting and lovely puds!!

Do you ring too then seza? Ringers teas are the best, always a goodly supply of yummy cake :)

Managed not to nod off in my bath, now all slathered in moisturiser and about ready for bed.

    Finally sat down.

    Quick recap to this morning....

Deevs, it was a two way thing. Thank you too.xx

Seza, if you have got to pack up, it must be a lot easier without littluns needing sockets to plug things into, probably safer too. Looking forward to hearing all about your new abode.xx

I am not very good at these recap thingys.

I read each and every post, and absorb and enjoy all of it, but am hopeless at posting back to each individual.

Maybe I am in between the memory and the notebook stage, yikes!!

Watch out Rips, I see a major waffle coming up, the only difference being, mine might be meaningless!

All in all, I have had a lovely weekend.

An hour wasted on the phone this morning, trying to spend a measly 500 pounds, is now only a distant memory.

Result being, that the desired item is being delivered between the hours of 7 and 7 tomorrow.

The most hilarious moment on the phone this morning was, that Barry, was our nearest store!!

Those that know where I live, in location to Barry, probably realise that it might involve a lengthy swim!

I think, round about call number 8, I actually spoke to a 'nice young man' who was in fact from Barry!!

He laughed his head off, when he saw the nearest store suggestion!!

Ok, going to post my waffle before the ink runs out.

    Morning All,

Bit dull and overcast here in Kent, but very muggy! I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Rips, Good to read you on here, the CMM is a very lucky woman :)

BlYpie (sorry don't think I did that right), Sorry to hear your news, what a shock, sending big hugs your way {{{}}} xx

Debs, You climbing the walls yet? I am sure that big box of choccies will ease some of the pain xx

And to everyone else a big wet sloppy kiss X

A nice quiet weekend for me, I was doing Street Pastors on Friday night so eventually got to be at 4:25am! I must be getting old as that puts me out for the whole weekend, so I spent the rest of the time in a bit of a sleepy fog.

Tomorrow I am driving up to North Wales to see my friend who is over from Hong Kong and of course my georgeous Goddaughter, then driving back Wednesday evening. A whistle stop visit but I guess it's cheaper than flying to HK!

    Is it 5 o'clock yet?

Debs - I think MTF will be offline all day. Hope you are OK even though movement is limited.

I've just had another speculative call from another agency who are putting my CV forward for yet another job - it is in Welwyn Garden City (about an hour's drive away) but for quite a large company so may be worth considering.

Hope everybody else is OK and if not ((((())))))).

AnnieG - sounds as if man in the cupboard make you hapy - lock him in there!

Had a good weekend with GM and his 2 adorable children. Had sole responsiblity for them for a few hours on Saturday afternoon - all went well and a good time was had. Even GM's ex was polite when I delivered them home :)

    Afternoon ,

It's a dull and dreary day here today. I must confess to trying to calculate how soon i could retire this morning . Only a zillion years to go :-(

Ozgirl, i didnt run, but i did clean all my windows, went to the supermarket (does that count as a walk? ) did a load of washing and ironing, and eventually washed my car .A spot of cleaning, Cooked tea and made butties for today. So , today, i am back at work for a rest.

MTF, good luck with the "lecky"

MTD , good news on the job search, will be interested to know how you get on.

Seza, good luck with dismantling the house .

Debs, hope you are feeling a bit better .
