Blues skies over London - hurrah !

Chris Evans | 12:09 UK time, Tuesday, 8 December 2009

One erect tree chez nous - hurrah again !!

Off to be given an award, though I'm not quite sure what for. Thrice hurrah !!!

Today is a two suit day. One for these awards and one for the recording of The Alan Carr Show tonight. Gonna be there with Michael McIntyre, Miley Cyrus and some other broad called Bette Middler. Should be fun.

Nine normal shows to go, two All Request Fridays, one All Request Thursday (Xmas Eve) and one Bye Bye Drive Time: Hello Brekkie live special from the O2.

The end of an era is almost upon us in more ways than one. . .

. . . Right what on earth is this award for, and whom do I have to remember to thank.

    Normal shows??

Way too good to call normal.

I started my new job the same time as CLP took over Drivetime,so he has been my co-passenger for the last, well easily 200,000 miles!

Its going to take a lot to fill that empty seat :(

    Hi Chris,

I get the feeling that there will be many, many more awards coming your way in the years to come. It is just wonderful to see your career take off again - you deserve all the success, and I am sure that this time, you will really enjoy it!

Hi everybody else - hope Tuesday is good to you!

    Afternoon all

Had an 'interesting' couple of days again re the house. Thanks to B's Mum for her fine advice, 1 chief exec complaint later and today remarkably the loss adjusters have people falling over themselves to sort the house out.

Hopefully we can be in at the weekend as that's T-0 for baby!

Chris - no matter what the award's for - its well deserved.

Onwards and upwards to new beginnings!

Greetings Of The Season Ter CLP & ALL,

    Bingo Star ere.....

CLP - My gooodnesss busy az always!!!!!
Getting closer & closer ter the end of yer on the Drivetime Gig!!!!
Am sad ter see CLP moving ter Breakfast & sad ter see Sir Tel leave!!!!
A writted abit on Sir Tel's leaving card that all can join in on 'is webpage!!!!!!

The 'Is It Me' bits ave always loved on Sir Tel's show!!!!!!

In fact i'll share a bit of what a writted ere, thought it might entertain a few. A waz only gonna put it on Sir Tel's site but thought az a wrote it, it's turned out ter be longer than a planned and actually quite amusing.... so ere it iz... all 100% TRUE from a few months back.

    Is It Me????? >>>>>>>>>>

A recent example, I went ter buy my road tax.
I gathered all my required documents: MOT certificate, tax reminder form, registration document & insurance certificate.
On presenting them ter the friendly lady behind the glass at the friendly post office she informed me that my insurance certificate they can't accept.
    I asked why???
She told me that az it's an internet downloaded copy from the well known Iggy Pop advertised insurance that advertises that it's all so, so, so easy az yer can do all yer doings on the internet.... it's all so easy all, all so easy!!!!!@!!@!!!@!
Yet am being told 'ere it's noot easy!!!!!
She told me they've 'ad a lot of trouble with this particular company!!!
I started ter argue and say so you don't believe that these documents are genuine, you are basically saying a could 'ave forged them. I added do you noot now, sorry know, what the signature of the insurance co. DG is for on the bottom of the certificate.... it's a legal document that would stand up in a court of law. Are you accusing me of forging the signature of the Iggy Pop advertised insurance co. DG???@?@???????@?
I added do you now, sorry know, 'ow serious an offence it iz ter forge a signature??????
The lady behind the counter just gave me a blank loook & said she's sorry but she can't accept the certificate.
BUT.... if I get a cover letter from the insurance company ter accompany me certificate ter say that me certificate iz genuine & thatta am covered by the insurance cover company (the all do it easy on the net ter make it easier company) then they will know, sorry now, am covered & that they will be able ter then accept that!!!!
By know, sorry now, a went mad all.... mad.... a said ter the lady iz the world going totally mad, do you now, sorry know, 'ow difficult it iz getting ter live in this increasingly insane world. A added ave brought all the required documents with me... ter buy me insurance ter stay legal on the road, and if a don't the ploice might take me car from me & crush it!!!!! CRUSH IT!!!!!!!!
A added this wouldn't ave 'appened in communist China or Russia... the ploice wouldn't crush yer car there!!!!!@!!!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@!
A added maybe a should go & live there & a might be able ter buy me raod tax noot that they probally sell raod tax at these extortionate rates, if they ave road tax at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A added you are accusing me of possibly being a fraudster of an insurance document!!!!!
In the end she called the manager & still a couldn't get any sense outta 'er too!!!!!!!
A waz blankly told a need ter get a covering letter ter say me insurance certificate iz genuine!!!!!!!!!!
A added if am a fraudster would it noot be easier for me ter forge a simple cover letter??????
A added do yer now, sorry know, 'ow many DAMN IT teeeems ave bought me new road tax disc with one of these insurance certificates from this insurance co. without any problems????? AYE??? A???
In the end a left after me BIG scene in the 'do it all' at yer local post office post office.... one of the few in me area that 'asn't been closed down!!!!!!!!!

So a drove ter me next nearest road tax issuing when they feel like it post office, 10 miles away, 10 miles.... all adding ter me carbon fooootprint.... even though a wasn't walking aka leaving foootprints!!!!!!!

Guess what 'appened at the second post office a went ter......
They sold me some road tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@!@!@!!@!@!@!!!!!!!!!@!

    'Is It Me?????????????'

All the above a swear 100% TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You and me both. I started this job on the very day that Chris took over Drivetime, and I reckon I've clocked up a few miles with him along the way too!

Heading into panic mode now as the realisation of what a marathon entails really hits home and how far away from that I am right now. Off to the gym later to try and do something about it, but I am going to have to up the ante big-style in the not too distant future.

I don't know if you have seen it - check out the main Beeb news page - but it appears that people are now stooping to sending their kids into those charity clothes bins that you find in supermarket car parks to nick clothes that good folk have donated. Honestly, what next?

    Lastly, as we approach the end of the decade, there are lots of lists of best this, best that etc. So, I reckon we need our own. I'll throw these ones onto the pile for a first-up, get us thinking, starter for ten;

Person of the decade - George W Bush. Remember, this doesn't mean 'best' person of the decade, more someone who has defined the decade. I won't rattle on now, but no-one did that more than good 'ol Dubya.

Album of the decade - American Idiot, Green Day. In some ways, see above.

Event of the decade - 9-11. In some ways, see above.

    Peace + love

not been able to blog for a few days so have been trying to catch up! Clodagh, have you heard anything more from CLP yet?

Christmas tree etc not up yet, it's still a wee bit early in my book, I might do it over the weekend. A pretty quiet week this week, then as from Tuesday of next week things start hotting up ahead of Chrimbo! Parties, drinks, lunches etc. Also need to get baking for a festive cake sale over the weekend.

Does anyone know who's going to be brekkie in between the Togmeister finishing up and CLP taking the reins?

Ah Deev no panic, I'm cool. CLP's a busy boy, he or his will call when they're ready. Assumin' they got me e-mail. Although as I'm off now up to the South Lakes to visit with the bezzy mate, hopefully they won't get me as I'm up to me clack in quicksand on Morecambe Bay. Now THAT'd be a first, Clodagh Rubbish Unplugged...

Any road. just seen the news.. poor besieged Tiger Woods and his missus. Not that I'm a particular fan; I've no opinion of him either way. Ok, so he's been 'outed' as less than perfect. So WHAT. See, this carnage is the down-side to our modern obsession with 'celebs', and our belief that this millennium is open-season for anyone in the public eye. It's a sad state of affairs if yous'll forgive the pun.

I really do wish we could all keep watch on each other more, rather than all this blood-lust for those we don't, and will never, know.

Ere. Says she, throttlin' CLP an' stickin' the evidence on Faceache. Hahahahahahaha, sorry... am a dorty hypocrite.

  • Comment number 95.

    Deev, a pint of what?

Talking of which, have just accepted my next mystery shop mission. This one entails dinner out with drinks, at least one of which has to be G & T.

Now, as I don't drink I was wondering if I knew anyone that might like to tag along.

    MW, a!

  • Comment number 96.

Well done you, Darce. Mine cost a fortune, but I did purchase a job lot. All part of Crimbo presents for family, you understand. Will expect a report tomorrow. Now really must fly, off to Haslemere for local production of Alice, starring very own granddaughter.

Superbeep - glad you're feeling better now.
I shall join you along with Darce (hopefully) if Debs sees fit to invite me.
I'm fairly sure we were on speaking terms when our paths last crossed.
We did have a couple of tiffs which were all her fault naturally - and I seem to recall inviting her round for a roast.......behave!

    Maybe she's scared of me....Grrrrrrr!

    Hahaha
