Nelly Furtado - 'Say It Right'

Post categories:

Fraser McAlpine | 09:03 UK time, Friday, 9 March 2007

Nelly FurtadoYou can always rely on Timberland for brilliance (apart from, maybe, his diddlings with Mel B), so we should all thank him for marking his territory all over this Nelly Furtado gem, so good it erases any memories we may have had of her 'I'm Like A Bird' days (good to see she's gotten over that one. After all, she was so wrong - there's definitely no irritating squawk nor beaky nose here, right?).

(Windows Media only)

To be able to make your comeback reinventing yourself as one of THE best hippity hop sex-predators around on the basis of what is essentially quite a sad breakup album is a feat in itself.

'Say It Right' manages to do sad hip hop in a way that's neither Pussycat Dolls sleaze nor Usher cheese (available in a leading supermarket near you, great on toast), whilst having sufficient beaty bounce to render it club-friendly.

Never mind new rave or silly hairdos, Nelly's where it's at.

Four starsReleased: March 5th
