Robbie Williams - 'Lovelight'

Oh, give it up why don't - ooh, hang on a minute, this is pretty good actually. After 'Rudebox's intentional Marmite factor, we were expecting Robbie to release something even more loyalty-testing, like some of his private poetry backed by by an ice cream van cover of Radiohead's 'Paranoid Android'. Or something.

As it goes, 'Lovelight' is as straight up and as gimmick-free a pop song as you could wish for, full of jaunty soul, that builds from twinkly beginnings to full brassy swagger quicker than you can say George Michael.

So all's well then in the post-'Rudebox' world then. The Robsessives can cancel those appointments at tattoo removal clinics, and we can all put our hands up and admit we like Robbie again. Although saying that, I kinda liked 'Rudebox' y'know... *Legs it*
