On October 20th 1977 Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crashed in Mississippi.
Band leader Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, backing singer Cassie Gaines, roadie Dean Kilpatrick and the two pilots tragically lost their lives.
From the 'Street Survivors' album, a Steve Gaines composition;
'Ain't No Good Life' - Lynyrd Skynyrd ~ 4:36
This is my preferred track, but if you're under time pressure;
'I Know a Little' - Lynyrd Skynyrd ~ 3:26
(Also written by Steve Gaines).

Watching the Wheels - John Lennon
there's been a lot of coverage over the last few days, much of it complete tosh. John was a complicated guy who spent most of his life searching for happiness. What I love about this song is that that it reflects a life of contented inner happiness surrounded by his family, an acceptance that it's great just to be yourself,- 'the greatest love of all', as George Benson put it.
The tragedy that followed wasn't that 'we' lost a great rock hero (John allowed that persona to die long before) but that a perfectly happy contented family man was robbed of the happy contented life the he had finally found.
In any event, it's a great track, possibly his greatest because it tells the truth about the real John Lennon and gives a real insight to what is on his mind.No big point is being made, which makes it beautiful. The stand out track in a sometimes quite mediocre post Beatles career.

I'd happily hear that.
Just returning to John Lennon for a moment, if my memory is correct the track they were working on in the studio the day Mark Chapman decided that it was time to kill the imposter was A Walk On Thin Ice - ironic subject matter and ironic that the last thing he did was produce a Yoko Ono track worth listening to.
I'd happily hear that too.
