I thought last night's show was hilarious. The theme was 'who or what have you named after a famous pop star?'.
I thought we might get lots of suggestions from folk who have named their kids after Kylie, Dylan and the rest. Whilst we did get a few of those, most request came from the listeners who had bestowed pop star names on the various members of the animal kingdom. It did make very entertaining reading.
We had cats called Simon and Garfunkel, rats called Pink and Floyd and a guy who had a singing dog called Spaniel O' Donnell! I particularly enjoyed the chap who called his pet Brian Ferret and I forgot to read out the text from Neil who named his rat Scabies after Rat Scabies from The Damned.
It wasn't just pets though, we had an Olivia Newton John fan who called their house Xanadu. We also learned that in Troon Marina there is a boat named Ziggy but surprisingly no ship called Dig - na - teee!
