Si from Wales writes,

I have a solution for the laughing on the train issue while listening to the podcast. How about Adam and Joe t-shirts saying something about the following:

Ìý

"If you're wondering why i'm laughing Its not because of your face Its because i'm listening to The Adam and Joe podcast "

Ìý

or

Ìý

"I'm Laughing at the Adam & Joe Podcast, Not at you, Unless you're funny, In which case I might be"

    Unless *your* funny?

Surely language standards at the Big British Castle have not yet fallen that far?

  • Comment number 2.

Should be 'you're' :P but WHERE CAN I BUY ONE

  • Comment number 3.

    I want one.

  • Comment number 4.

WANT (as long as the spelling is corrected).
Si from Wales, you're like some kind of genius!

  • Comment number 5.

I made one on a site, it's not perfect but I can't find it anywhere else. I hope you guys like it :)

Also made the 'not laughing at your face' one (:

Si from Wales, you are brillz skillz for coming up with those ideas!

  • Comment number 7.

THAT'S what I need on the park and ride to excuse the faces I pull sometimes trying not to laugh! Last bit to get me was the alternative tennis grunting from last summer - I made some sort of strange whimpering noise out loud from trying so hard not to sit there shaking with the gigglies.

  • Comment number 8.

    I want a new pod cast !!!!!!
    Please come back soon.

  • Comment number 9.

I am a proofreader by trade, and the numerous errors in this make me want to cry. The random punctuation is painful.

Anyway, I hope that the boys come back v. soon. I miss them terribly. I have listened to all the shows over and over and over again. A bit sad, really.

I can't get over the fact of not being able to listen to new podcasts. I'd got addicted to them. When's the next one?

Hoping that was a joke, 'learn too spell'... Wow we are pedants aren't we. Perhaps we should revisit David Mitchell's soapbox.

  • Comment number 14.

O Adam and Joe, Adam and Joe, wherefore art thou Adam and Joe?
Lucky for me I have the entire podcast back catalogue to keep me sane...

    ...ish.

  • Comment number 15.

What's all this about 6music being on the ropes? I heard it on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ this morning. We need to defend.

Adam; shouty voice at the ready.
    Joe; torpedoes at the ready.

    Standby.

  • Comment number 16.

I never expected Mr ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ himself to be the one to finally kill Boggins. I'm going to write an angry letter and send it to someone.

  • Comment number 17.

    No more 6music. DAMMIT.
    Black Squadron to the rescue

  • Comment number 18.

This cannot happen. And it could yet be reversed - Black Squadron to the rescue indeed! Even is on the case: "6 Music keeps the spirit of broadcasters like John Peel alive and for new artists to lose this station would be a great shame."

  • Comment number 19.

At least now we know why Adam and Joe have had a three month holiday, they've been looking for other work. 6music went down the toilet around the start of the year anyway. It all went wrong when they replaced Iyari - who was a nice way to wake up on the weekend morning with George Lamb and his screaming, hyena-like band of "producers" or whatever it is they're supposed to be doing. I wish people would stop trying to be Chris Moyles all the time, laughing and screaming at any old thing is not a radio show. Be glad when he gets fired.

  • Comment number 20.

Black Squadron command - Storm the Castle....

  • Comment number 21.

Maybe this is the moment all those seemingly disparate and irrelevant Black Squadron commands have been leading up too?! Ready for your orders Commander Cornish...

  • Comment number 22.

I was thinking about the Adam and Joe show when I heard the news about 6 Music. If it's true, I would be really sad to see the end of the show - so here's a thought. I would happily pay a pound a week to get my Adam and Joe fix, so is this a way to fund the show in a post-³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ 6 world?

According to Wikipedia, they have 160,000 listeners a week, plus 95,000 podcast downloads. Obviously Wikipedia is not an unimpeachable source, but even if you halve those figures, and assume that half of the people who download the podcast also listen to the show and would only pay once, that still leaves £102,750 a week - surely for that kind of cash, the boys could spend three hours in Adam's kitchen with a cuppa recording a show?

  • Comment number 23.

Riiight, NOW I understand. There was something odd about the way Adam and Joe took their break at the end of last year, like they planned on coming back but there was a chance that they wouldn't...it was like something wasn't being said. I guess even around then there must have been rumblings about the future of 6 Music. Oh, boggins.

  • Comment number 24.

If this is true, sad times. I love 6 Music.

I hope A&J find a new home! To be honest, a podcast with adverts would be fine with me!

  • Comment number 25.

Adam and Joe should take over Jonathon Ross' Saturday morning slot on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ2 when he leaves in the summer

  • Comment number 26.

no! no! no! who will look after boggins!!!!!

  • Comment number 27.

The castles deluded. Dr Buckels and the Cornballs ramblings is the only thing that keeps me sane!

"The review said more money will be ploughed into international news and the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ must put a higher proportion of the licence fee into quality programmes to make "fewer things better"."

Well im sure if they didnt commission awful sitcoms like Big Top, Lab Rats and The Persuasionists (Sorry Buckles) then there would be a bit more money in the pot.

  • Comment number 28.

"Well im sure if they didnt commission awful sitcoms like Big Top, Lab Rats and The Persuasionists (Sorry Buckles) then there would be a bit more money in the pot."

I couldn't agree more. All I could think of on the tube to work was "What about Adam & Joe? What about Adam & Joe? What about the blog??" This has really ruined my morning.

But I am confident that they are far too good to let go. Maybe they'll move to another ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ thingie. [I sure hope]

Adam was on Channel 4 last night (and as usual hilarious and clever):

  • Comment number 30.

Thanks for that link Ed. :D
Two bearded men grilling Mark Tomo Thompson, Brillopads!

  • Comment number 31.

@Ed - Good spot. Well done.
Adam - Thanks. First time been grouped with intelligent people.
Would the fight with Mark Tomo Thompson be done in the style of Harry Hill ??
Mark Tomo Thompson must have been watching latest re-run of Austin Powers with his inverted ""speech marks""

  • Comment number 32.

Thanks @Ed. Adam's tone there made me think that this really has been a recent occurrence, contrary to @Jamie's speculation...?

Apart from the absolute jewel that is (are?) Adam & Joe, what do people think about the notion of a radio station being more of a distinctive entity than a TV station? This occurred to me in filling out the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ trust's consultation earlier today. I've blogged about this ...

  • Comment number 33.

6 Music has at least to the end of next year, I didn't realise that. I think that Adam and Joe will stay on the radio as long as they both want to...they could return to 6 music until it closes shop (if it actually does), and then after that I imagine the beeb would offer them another home, maybe somewhere like Radio 2, because their show is just so popular and well-liked. I think it just depends on how much they want to keep doing it.

And Adam could take Mark Thompson in a fist fight.

  • Comment number 34.

Thank you for the link to the Channel 4 interview. It was pretty depressing. I wish interviewers wouldn't all try to be Paxman and interrupt and badger their guests in that way; all it means is that the guest is unable to make his case, it directs the conversation into cul de sacs and, ironically, allows the guest to avoid answering the question because the interviewer merely reacts to what the guest says rather than trying to hold them to account properly. Thompson wasn't much better, completely ignoring the questions that he was asked (and Snow should have returned to those questions, not allowed Thompson to meander and get bogged down in arguments). He didn't say whether the cuts were definite or not. He did hint that presenters on the services to be cut might be transferred elsewhere, but it was no more than a hint. He didn't address the obvious point that Adam made, which is that stations like 6 Music would seem to be prime examples of where the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is getting things right, and they are the last things it should be cutting. Personally I'd say everyone would be better off if the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ stopped spending money trying to compete in those areas where its commercial rivals are stronger, such as sport.

If Adam and Joe do disappear from the radio, I would absolutely support the notion of their doing an independent podcast. I would be perfectly happy to pay for that.
