Concept Statement: Due to the many possibilities and ideas we had from this subject, we drew our inspiration form the structures, shapes and patterns found in ceramics. We searched online and browsed through books at our local library and decided to incorporate these aspects into our designs. You could reflect these patterns in clothing through printed fabric, embroidery and the shapes of the ceramics can be shown by using different methods to construct the fabric (such as shoulder pads, belts and buttons). Another aspect of ceramics that drew us in were the everyday objects, mainly teapots and cups, for their many designs ranging from delicate and imperial to modern and quirky, and vases, which can be extravagantly styled, long and elegant and bold in their colour.
