Title: The Fog (prologue)
by Tom from Staffordshire | in writing, fiction
An eerily thick black fog descended on Britain. It came quite slowly, but quick enough to catch unwary drivers while they were on the roads. Most had the sense to pull over while they could, but others carried on so they would not be late for appointments. These were the first to suffer. They crashed soon after the fog descended.
The fog was dense, so dense that one would be forgiven for thinking it was night, and appeared to contain tiny particles of light that much resembled stars. Many unfortunates sat in their homes and noticed the descent of the mist. Many of those who saw it left their houses to investigate. These were the second to fall. The fog had that effect on people. They did not choke to death, or burn, or freeze. They just fell.
