Title: Rosie Bear's Big Adventure

by Rosie from Scotland | in writing, poetry

The mornings skip up Everest
in worn out tartan boots
An early bird waiting to feed
You watch through painted flowers
flecked and wilted on the glass
As your mum descends the mountain

A smile called Karen greets you
Same name as mum with longer
hair. Scissors had to rescue the comb
You tangled in your hair
Trying to compete

From the Amazon of the jungle gym
To the sandpit of Egypt. You realise
Somebody has flooded your pyramids
An unnatural disaster
The perfect attire for 'going on a bearhunt'
Your 'Rosie Bear' jumper.

Mortar board balanced on an unkempt bob
Jelly smiles clutched in a sweaty palm
You search for Karen's face,
obscured by freshly painted flowers,
Spring daffodils reflecting off the window.
