Title: Scared Again

by Jace from Kent | in writing, poetry

I'm scared, I'm scared to die.
I knew I was, I saw it in the doctors' eyes
Giving me my final deadline
No extensions, no extra time

I'm scared again, for what I leave here
Loving friends and family, that is what I fear
How will they cope when I'm gone
What will happen if things go wrong

I'm scared again, for my final breath
Terrified of my impending death
Frightened because I don't know where I'll go
When my heartbeat goes too slow

I'm no longer scared, not fearing anything
Not dreading the hour the church bells ring
For I can watch over my loved ones
When my final heartbeat comes

I'm no longer scared, my final breath is nigh
I'm happy in knowing I don't have to say goodbye
It's just like dreaming you soon awake
And quite looking forward to the service and the wake!
