1: [Enter, stage left. Move to front.] I saw her there, all hangdog and hollow, and I thought 'you're making a mess of the street.'
2: [Enter, stage right.] I was back out of the mission, on the street, and there he was. [Glance at 1] All boozy swagger and middle class sneer.
1: Ok, it had been a good night, I was up for a fight, and I wanted her out of my way. It's my taxes that pave that road.
2: And out of nowhere'
1: [Unashamed] Bottled in the face'
2: Blood everywhere'
1: Showed her what I think of them parasites'
2: Couldn't see for the agony'
1: I kept on walking.
2: They all do, in the end. [Exit 1 stage right. 2 stays shivering at back of stage to gradual blackout.]
A brief altercation between a homeless woman and a middle class boy. I was thinking about the class divide that is tearing Britain into pieces and the meaningless violence that takes place today.
