History Class Room
3:30
30 minutes late! New record?
Kiera hurried out of her classroom breathless and unsatisfied. 'A New day, brings new chances?' She hadn't personally believed in this rule, she followed more amongst the lines of 'same old, same old.'
She knew her mum would be waiting in her car, panting and puffing, probably contacting the school to see if her daughter has been swallowed by the Math ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖwork, or reporting the media that Kiera Tate had been abducted by the lion statues guarding the school. Oh yes, you could never underestimate Yana Tate, she would always go one step further.
Kiera's locker was on the ground floor, if she was quick she could reach her mother in 4 minutes. She hurried down the steps careful not to trip on the chipped slabs, and then she realized that the lights were turning off. This caused her to realize that school closed at 3:40pm for technical reasons Mondays.
When she reached the ground floor, Kiera heard a shrill shriek come from the English dep. She ran to see what was wrong, but froze when she saw what had actually happened. Grouped around the Year 9 lockers was a group of girls laughing at something written on the screen of a mobile phone. The girls were crowded around Lauren Oman, a tall blonde and pretty girl in Kiera's year, they knew each other, from a long time back, a time neither of them talked about but never forgot.
Lauren was smiling, she had one hand smugly wrapped around her hand-bag and other holding on to the phone.
'I can't believe he actually said that'
'Uh-hu, that is so cool!'
'What did you say to him?'
'I''..'
Lauren had caught my eye, her smile had turned into a frown, she didn't go on, her conversation with her best friend Sofia, hadn't given anything away really, but Lauren's blue eyes were filled with rage, she hated eavesdroppers. The rest of the girls noticed the halt in Laurens speech and all turned towards Kiera.
'Oh snooping around are we?'
'No''''''
Before Kiera could finish, Lauren had pulled Sofia towards the English rooms, moving all eyes onto herself.
'Forget her Sofz, we've got more important stuff to do, she is a waste of time!'
Sofia on the other hand seemed to be more interested in Kiera.
'Come on Sofz, I need to see someone, come with me.'
With this Lauren, Sofia and the other girls started to move towards the first floor exit.
Kiera checked her watch, 3:49pm, she quickly opened her locker stuffed all the books into her bag and ran towards the nearest exit.

The Blue Toyota Celcia was parked at the rear end of the road, a tall woman with a Mediterranean tanned face was peering through the window. Her hair was put back with a blue Persian bandana and she was covered in beads, this was the one and only Yana Tate, beautiful, smart, and funny and an award winning magazine editor. People had heard about her but never seen her, she was different, they claimed, things about her changed from work to home; you wouldn't recognize her on a Saturday morning whilst shopping even though she was your work colleague. People tended to enjoy her presence, she was fun and loving. No one would believe that she had a teenage daughter, someone so young so vibrant could surely not bring up a human girl? They did not know that Yana was actually a great mother, strict but loving. She knew when to act and when to stop, she had of course ended her teens only 9 years ago. But having a daughter was trouble, especially a teenager
