Title: Summers Ago

by Carleanne from Hertfordshire | in writing, fiction

The story begins in a field of emerald green grass glimmering in the evening sunshine. You feel it brush your bare feet as you walk through it. Nothing except the clouds separate you from the earth and the sky blue heaven above you. Angels look down from the sky, wishing you well on your journey into the country, blowing kisses that you feel on your cheeks in the slight breeze.
It is a nice day to be outside. The sun is shining and the sky smiles at you as it watches over embarking on your journey down the beaten track towards the airfield.

When you arrive there you spot a plane coming into land. You pull out your camera from your bag and snap a few shots of the plane before it disappears down the runway into an old rusting hangar. That hangar held many a memory for you. A memory from what seemed like summers ago.

April. When the trees blossomed and the sun shone still. You and your love elope to your secret place. Leaving the reality of your busy lives behind you, just living in the moment. The place was old and decrepit but it was so much more than that in both your eyes. The corrugated walls were rusting and the placed looked as if it could fall down any second. You took the chance, you knew the angels were looking after you both. The sun shone through a hole in the door bringing a sweet kiss of light to the place. Your love takes your hand and laces it with his own as your eyes carry on exploring the abandoned hangar. The windows had been blown out and only their lonely wooden frames remained. This place was a piece of history itself, it was precious, simple. To you it was beautiful.

This piece is kind of reflective and autobiographical.
