Title: White Flame
by Danni from Oxfordshire | in writing, fiction
Flames raged as a blonde man lit a cigarette. His orange coloured eyes flickered with hatred and a somewhat sadness. He had his leg propped up behind him against the wall, supporting him as he leaned against it. It was dark and the skies were clouded with black smoke from the city. He coughed and threw the cigarette aside.
Cigarettes would not quench his thirst for revenge. Only one thing could do that. He was not a patient man so waiting wasn't easy for him.
The alleyway he was stranded in was completely empty, not to mention a mess. Bins were scattered everywhere and the insides were scattered across the street. Alley cats purred with delight and dived into the rubbish. He looked away, slightly disgusted by the mess and partly uninterested by it.
He looked up as he heard footsteps. A dark shadow approached him. It had the body that was about fourteen years old, black hair and a pair of maroon, red eyes. He wore a black cloak over him and it shaded his face, hiding his identity. He continued walking towards the man, unafraid.
The older man removed his foot from the wall but never took his eyes off the boy. His orange eyes burned with distrust.
'Who are you?' He asked bitterly. The boy did not answer and came closer, his black boots stepping silently on the ground. A nearby ally-cat jumped off the wall, its fur bristled and meowed fearfully.
'Sam, I hope your aware of the trouble you are causing the academy.' The boy said suddenly, not a hint of tone in his voice but it was still very threatening. Sam flinched at his words and as quick as lighting he clicked his fingers. A red flame scorched the air and danced mockingly in the boy's face. Sam smirked. The boy stood still, unaffected; instead he laughed at Sam and waved his arm through the flame. The flame disappeared.'Why doesn't it affect you?' Sam roared as his precious flame died away. He stood back, now fully realising who he was dealing with.
'Y-you're...' Sam stuttered quivering with fear, backing away slowly. He gulped. 'The white flame.'
The boy opened his clenched right fist and held it out towards him. Inside was a scorching hot white flame. It moved over to Sam and hovered in his face. The heat was unbearable and beads of sweat ran down his forehead.
'This is a warning.' The boy muttered coldly. 'Back off.' The flame quickly slashed across his right eye. Sam roared in pain and backed away jumping over the wall and into someone's garden.
The boy stood alone. Just then, he cringed with pain and kneeled on the ground. Sweat ran off his forehead. He coughed and clutched himself in agony. Reaching for his back pocket he took out some liquid. With a flick of the lid, he gulped down the liquid painfully.
'I guess I over did it today.' He mumbled. Then, he pulled his hood over his eyes and left.
