Title: Porcelain doll

by Catherine from Northern Ireland | in writing, poetry

Naked, I stand
At the mirror, begging her,
Her;
For repentance.

Mercy, begging her for
Mercy, falling to my knees, for
Forgiveness, hoping she can wipe clean
My sullied slate.

The ethereal figure,
She guides me, helps me.
Tells me how to be
Me.

The digital devil on the bathroom floor,
It deceives me, tells me lies.
The supposed truth is not
What I see.

I want to be smaller
Smaller,
Disappear.

The desires to grow,
Hope,
Dream,
Be; simply vanish.

I tug at my fat,
Repulsed by my greediness.
Battering my poor fat body,
Into oblivion.

False smile, false content,
Genuine anger, genuine contempt.
