Title: Death poem

by James from Berkshire | in writing, poetry

He haunts us in the night
He takes us at our height
But don't fear him, search for my light
Face him together and he has no might

Seen as the great oppressor
Hitler, Stalin, but this one is much the lesser
He stoops in the shadows in times of war and pain
And sends others to his bidding, they think they have some higher place to gain

He claims to send us to the depths of hell
Which way our paths lead only we can truly tell
Do we walk to St Peters Gate?
What lies after we cannot know
All we can do is sit, think and wait
