Title: Sly tongue and eternel heart

by Caleb from Surrey | in writing, fiction

Sly Tongue whispered,
'We pray for a sun to rise every day. We pray for the moon to light our paths in the darkest night, and pray for the crops to thrive and prosper. But for years we have done nothing but that, driving us to the point of madness. What do we really pray for, and to whom? And as the children in far away countries stare almost in tears as their fathers sail from the keep, we do nought but wait and watch in hope. We will soon be the destruction of ourselves, and the great stone walls will soon come crashing down upon us. We will sing our songs aloud, yet the rising tides roar will soon drown all else out, till nothing but the lapping of the great seas remain. Our forests of wonders and delight will soon be alight by many bright flames, and will be seen throughout the world. And what will you do then? Will you remain loyal to your songs and words, or will you stand and fight? Too long have you lingered and slept in the shadows of your doubt and fear. Join me for promised glory!'

The Eternal Heart, in great shock and fear exclaimed,
'Why do you cry to nothing? No one hears or hearkens to your voice, so silence your whining and be still. I hold all forces and powers under my will and rules, and will not be confronted by some creature crawled from the pits of burning hate. Your mind and intellect must be slim and narrow if you believe I will in answer your trust-less words and sly hints. If we were to listen to you, we would surely fall into dust. You speak of glory and riches? You lie like you are on your death bed, (which you soon will be), and your face is ever concealed and hidden. What light lies within you? None! You are the devil in a physical form, and hatred for all life burns within you. We have built marvellous cities and wondrous art, and evil is held at bay by are love and wonder at life's wisdom. Now flee from here Devil, and go back to your hole!'

I was listening to a song called the Tall ships medley, and my ideas sort of bloomed from that.
