The 1.Wo/Man design team are having some more problems. As Creative Director it鈥檚 up to Rose to communicate her ideas for the collection to the designers otherwise they鈥檒l come up with designs which don鈥檛 fit her vision and the collection won鈥檛 look cohesive. Because the designers don鈥檛 really know what she has in mind they鈥檙e designing things she doesn鈥檛 like and she鈥檚 coming across as very negative. The PR team meanwhile organised a photo shoot to create some images for a 鈥渓ook book鈥 and the stylists worked on hair and makeup with Kay and Isabel from the London College of Fashion.
DIY Your Label:
Your Creative Director needs to communicate their ideas clearly to the team and take the lead to avoid issues like this.
Creating a look book is a great way of publicising your collection.
Look Book Shoot:
A look book is just a set of photographs of all the outfits in your collection. Photos for a look book should be as simple and straightforward as possible. Don鈥檛 try to do anything 鈥渁rty鈥, keep the poses and the lighting simple, it鈥檚 all about seeing the outfits clearly not creating a cutting edge magazine shoot.
A good way to achieve this simple look is to photograph each outfit as though it were on the catwalk. Mark out a 鈥渃atwalk鈥 for your model and have them walk very slowly towards your photographer at the end of the catwalk. When they reach a particular point on each walk take your shot. This way all the pictures look similar which makes your look book appear more professional.
Hair and Makeup:
The main thing to remember is that the catwalk is all about impact; you鈥檙e trying to leave a lasting impression on your audience so the hair and makeup must have the wow factor. The look you decide on has to suit your theme and has to work on a variety of models with different hair and features. Your chosen hairstyle has to be very durable too to stand up to all the quick changes backstage.
