I rummaged through jumble sales, finding old silk shirts in jewel shades that would make striking flowers. I couldn't bear wasting the remainder of the fabric so I created a layered sleeve to use some of the remaining scraps - this gives it an edgy element. The beads used on the corset were naturally produced, a remnant from time spent in South Africa, ensuring that their production caused no harm to the environment. I also separated my mother's old sequin strings and raided her old spare buttons, safe in the knowledge that they would probably not be used otherwise.
