The inspiration for my dress came from the fact that we waste a huge amount of plastic on a daily basis, and is causing drastic effects for the world. I wanted to create a garment that not only used re-cycled denim but also another popular wasted item, plastic. The skirt is made from bin bags that have been scrunched together to create volume and the circular coloured disks are made from plastic sweet wrappers. The bodice of the dress is made from the reverse side of denim as I liked the colours and patterns better. I have plaited strips of denim to create the straps and to define the shape. The black ribbon under the bust was scrap left over from another project.
