Most
children are fascinated by the Ancient Egyptians, so an open stage
production with puppets which explores the story of how the first
mummy was created, is sure to keep them entertained.
'The Magic of the Mummy' explores the myth behind the first 'mummy'
Osiris, and tells how his wife's sorcery saves him from death as
he floats down the Nile in a beautiful carved wooden box.

The
show is for all children who love a good story and have an interest
in the gruesome details of the past!
It's suitable for children aged 5-11.
It's based on the pictures and stories of real Egyptian artefacts
and will be particularly popular with children who study the Ancient
Egyptians as part of the National Curriculum.
Scottish
puppet company, Clydebuilt, have produced this open stage production
to challenge children at different levels of understanding and to
lead them on a journey of exploration and imagination.
The music for the show was especially composed by Margaret Smith
which adds to the atmosphere.
Children
can make their own puppets in workshops to accompany the show.

There
is an all day workshop for 7-12 year olds on Thursday 19th February
(however this is now fully booked)
There is also a family workshop on Friday morning for children aged
2-6. Prices start at 拢1.
The workshops are run by artist Sarah Pooley who studied puppet
making at Norwich Puppet Theatre.
In the workshops children will create their own puppets from a range
of re-cycled materials, and then have a chance to use them in a
mini show.

the Newhampton Arts Centre on Friday 20th February at 2pm.
