Coins that make 50p (signed)
Description
Bill and Bernie use a combination of different coins to make 50p to pay at a car park. Bill pays at a machine to park the car. One at a time, he puts in 5p, 5p, 10p, 10p, then 20p to make 50p. After each coin is put in, he adds up the total so far.
Classroom Ideas
Pause the clip after each coin is added, while students total how much has been spent so far, write it down and hold it up like Bill does. Students could role-play in pairs, with one student adding a coin and the other totalling the amount. Students could also be challenged to work in pairs using coins to find as many different ways as possible to make 50p or other values.
