An animated film trailer set in the 1940s about a German woman called Luisa and a British man called Thomas, who fall in love during a long train journey through Germany. They spend the trip getting to know each other and comparing life in Germany and the UK. When Luisa reaches her final destination, Thomas tries to convince his new-found love to stay. She’s reluctant to leave, but scribbles her address on the back of an envelope and asks him to write to her so that they can stay in contact. Just as a happy ending is in sight, Thomas suddenly appears to switch his allegiances.

After pupils have watched the film, ask them to imagine the conversation that Thomas is going to have with the woman who arrives after Luisa’s departure and write the dialogue for a continuation of the film. Pupils could then act out the new script as a role play exercise.
