What is a number sequence?

A number sequence is a list of numbers that is linked by a rule or pattern.

If you work out the rule, you can work out the next numbers or a missing number in the sequence.

The simplest number sequence is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5鈥nd so on.

The rule is that you add 1 each time.

Here鈥檚 another sequence. Can you spot the rule?

2, 4, 6, 8, 10

The rule is that you add 2 each time. Did you spot that this sequence is the same as the 2 times table?

Sequences can go down as well as up. Can you spot the rule here?

50, 45, 40, 35, 30
