Adding three small numbers by counting on
Description
Bernie is counting flowers which have grown in three window boxes. There are 10 in the first box, 9 in the second and 8 in the third. Bernie adds the three numbers together by counting on in units.
Classroom Ideas
Children could be given piles of counters in numbers up to ten. Using three piles of counters, they could count each pile and record it as a written calculation. They could then add the three together as demonstrated in the clip.
