The Dunedin Consort performs the opening section of J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 written in 1721. Musical director and harpsichord player John Butt introduces the piece, which is typical of the Baroque era (around 1600 to 1750).

This clip can be used to illustrate music of the Baroque era and to encourage learners to explore and deepen their knowledge in classical music. Learners could go on to research a piece written by another Baroque composer and look out for any of the concepts which occurred in the clip appearing in their chosen piece.
