Description
Breabach band-member Ewan Robertson talks about playing jigs and their 6/8 time signature. The band then performs ‘The Poetic Milkman’ by Scottish composer Ian Hardie live in the studio. Breabach features Calum MacCrimmon (bagpipes and whistle), Megan Henderson (vocals, fiddle and stepdance), Ewan Robertson (guitar and vocals), James Duncan Mackenzie (bagpipes and flute) and James Lindsay (double bass). Features the following concepts- fiddle, double bass, jig, compound time, Scottish dance band, bagpipes, strumming.

This clip could be used when studying Scottish Music to introduce compound time. Learners could go on to listen to the other types of Scottish Dances to establish the difference between simple and compound time.
