Classroom Ideas
Use as a starting point for a discussion on the role and duties of the police in a modern context. For example, duties could be given as: to protect life and liberty, to maintain public order and to prevent and detect crime. Use as a base for an investigation into modern police crime fighting methods and their effectiveness. Examples could include fingerprint and DNA databases. Use to introduce a debate on whether the UK should have a national compulsory DNA database.
