NARRATOR: Everything we read, whether it鈥檚 a history book or a science-fiction story has been written by someone. That person is called an author.
The author decides what they want you to feel or explore and chooses all elements of the story carefully.
AUTHOR: I need a bad guy - I think I鈥檒l name him Mr. Doom. Hmm鈥es, that might work. Got to be really mean looking, with a big moustache, no, even meaner. That might be too much. When he's in a bad mood he squashes little bunny rabbits.
NARRATOR: But the author can change their mind. Maybe he only looks mean, but is really kind hearted鈥
So you see? It is the author that decides everything that happens in the story. That鈥檚 called 鈥榓uthorial intent鈥.
