Your final outcome
Expressive portfolio
Your expressive portfolio should show a final piece of expressive artwork.
This might be:
- two dimensional - e.g. a painting or drawing
- three dimensional - e.g. a sculpture
Your final piece should link clearly to the rest of your portfolio and should show some further refinement from your development work. However, it should not just be a larger version of a development study.
When making a decision on your final piece, consider:
- the scale 鈥 you do not have to work on a large scale if it does not suit you
- the composition 鈥 how can you make further improvements to your best development?
- media 鈥 what is your preferred media? What will give the most successful result with the best visual impactThe visual impression made on the viewer. Many elements contribute to visual impact, for example imagery, colour and style. ?
- technique 鈥 do you have a favourite technique you have developed in the portfolio? Are you aiming to work in a similar style to an inspirational artist?
Design portfolio
Your design portfolio should include a design solution.
This might be:
- two dimensional - e.g. a graphic design for a poster
- three dimensional - e.g. a piece of jewellery or a product design
Your design solution should link clearly to the rest of your portfolio and should show some further refinement from your development work. It should not just be a larger version of a development.
Your design solution does not have to be produced using professional materials and techniques, but it does have to communicate your idea effectively and show how it would function.
Your development work should have allowed you to experiment with suitable materials and techniques and to make a decision about the best way to produce your design solution.
