Course assessment
The course assessment for National 5 Art and Design has three assessment components:
- Component 1 鈥 Question Paper (50 marks)
- Component 2 鈥 Expressive portfolio (100 marks)
- Component 3 鈥 Design portfolio (100 marks)
Your portfolios are produced as coursework and submitted to SQA for external assessment. You will work on them over an extended period of time.
Your teacher will let you know how long you have to complete your portfolios and when your deadlines are.
Expressive portfolio:
- Demonstrates your personal response to a selected theme.
- Should show investigative research, development of an idea, a final piece and an evaluation.
- Represents 40% of your overall mark.
Design portfolio:
- Demonstrates your personal response to a selected design brief.
- Should show investigative research, development of an idea, a design solution and an evaluation.
- Represents 40% of your overall mark.
