Do you care about the planet but not sure where to start?
Looking at the world鈥檚 most amazing climate heroes can be inspiring, but it can also be a bit daunting. You might think that there鈥檚 little you can do to speak out or that your voice is smaller than other people鈥檚.
But that鈥檚 just not true. The way you express yourself could change how someone thinks and might even encourage them to do the same.
If there鈥檚 something that you鈥檙e into 鈥 whether that鈥檚 litter picking or sustainable fashion 鈥 see if you can start small and use your voice to promote your passion. Oh, and have fun too. That鈥檚 key!
Every act of speaking out can add up to a big difference.
Why not try making the environment part of the things you love doing?
Creative writing
Jotting things down into a story, poem, song or even your phone notes is a great way of expressing how you feel. It can help you channel your thoughts about climate change and can entertain, inform or move someone else to feel the same way. Anything that you come up with is worth your time鈥 it will definitely be better than Cel鈥檚 poem anyway!
Drawing and painting
Some of the best artworks and illustrations capture moments in time of how people feel about an issue. It鈥檚 also really fun, too! Get messy and creative exploring different ways of expressing your thoughts on how can protect the planet. You could start a nature journal for example? Sharing your artwork with friends and talking about the meaning behind your work can encourage others to talk about these issues too. Perhaps you could display your artwork at your school to inform others about the importance of looking after the environment.
Spread the word
If you鈥檙e ever feeling anxious about the climate crisis, talking to friends and family about your feelings can be a helpful way to transform those negative thoughts into positive actions. Whether it鈥檚 brainstorming green ideas you can do at home that week or going on a litter pick with your family, it鈥檚 important to remember that you can make a positive impact on the environment, however small it is!
On the other hand, it might be that you鈥檙e excited about a green project you鈥檙e involved with and want to share your news with others. Spreading the word about why it鈥檚 so important to look after the environment can increase awareness and in doing so, motivate others to play their part.
