Dean Trust 鈥 Greater Manchester, England
This school鈥檚 eco-committee were selected by Manchester United Foundation鈥檚 social action project to help do their bit to protect the planet. The students designed lots of green spaces behind the sports field over the space of 12 weeks.
The students wanted to build an area that would support students鈥 well-being and add more greenery to the environment. Enjoy the stress-free space guys!
Our Lady and St Patrick鈥檚 High School 鈥 Dumbarton, Scotland
The students in the eco-committee at this school has pledged to combat litter pollution 鈥 and they鈥檝e teamed up with a local nursery for help! The committee regularly takes on litter patrols with the nursery children and takes the opportunity to educate them on sustainability.
The students even set up a twitter page where they give advice on recycling and mat free meals, and eventually were interviewed by their local newspaper.
The 11 and 12-year-olds of Our Lady and St Patrick's work with local businesses to offer support and advice on how to be more sustainable. Their hard work is paying off, as a local dentists decided to limit the number of plastic toothbrushes they stock. Instead, they are focusing on bamboo toothbrushes 鈥 well done guys.
St Dominic鈥檚 High School 鈥 County Antrim, Northern Ireland
Eco-club students from a school in Belfast organise lots of activities to do their bit for the planet. These activities involve planting a wildflower garden and building their own bug hotel!
The team at the school take action inside and outside of the grounds 鈥 they often organise beach clean-ups and have planted 160 trees. The school publishes its own magazine which is shared on their social media and hope to inspire others at the school.
Thomas Alleyne Academy 鈥 Hertfordshire, England
The Eco-Committee in this school has only been in place for 1 year, but that hasn鈥檛 stopped them from reaching incredible goals to help the planet! The committee has managed to influence their school canteen into Meet Free Mondays and have supplied a plant to every classroom.
That鈥檚 not it though, the team take to litter picking weekly and have managed to recycle over 600kg of waste, which includes crisp packets, pens and batteries. Well done team!
