Five top tips on surviving rejection:

1. Find the right person

Angelle Joseph is a presenter at 成人快手 Introducing, 成人快手 Radio Suffolk. She says: 鈥淚f someone says no to you, probably don鈥檛 go to them again. Maybe they鈥檙e just not the right person. Go to another one, go to someone who鈥檚 connected with them. Try someone else 鈥 because there鈥檚 always someone that is ready to hear what you鈥檝e got to say.鈥

2. Keep trying

Angelle says: 鈥淚f you feel like you鈥檙e being rejected or you鈥檙e trying to knock down doors, sending emails, getting no response鈥 just keep trying. A lot of people in my kind of job are really busy.鈥 Singer and songwriter Olivia Nelson says: 鈥淲hen I first started out there were lots of people that said I sound too young or I look too young. They just don鈥檛 really get it until you actually start making stuff that other people appreciate. When you know that it鈥檚 what you want to do鈥 do it!鈥

3. Believe in what you鈥檙e doing

Those nos help you to refine who you are.

Singer, songwriter and producer Maverick Sabre says: 鈥淚 had people walk out mid-song when I was at labels鈥 rejection by email, rejection by everything. But that鈥檚 where your belief is tested. Use rejection as a driving force in any element of life 鈥 whether it鈥檚 a relationship, art, family life.鈥 Record producer Paul Epworth believes if: 鈥淵ou鈥檙e open to learning and acquiring new skills, and you鈥檙e curious about how other people do things then鈥 you鈥檒l find the path that鈥檚 right for you.鈥

4. Accept that you can鈥檛 please everyone

Vocal coach Joshua Alamu advises: 鈥淚f you can go with the right mindset and acknowledge that when you get out there not everybody鈥檚 going to like it, I think you go in there better prepared.鈥 Catherine Anne Davies is a musician, producer, songwriter and industry campaigner. She says: 鈥淵ou need to be mentally resilient, and perhaps understand why you might not be picked for a particular role. Say you鈥檙e auditioning for a band 鈥 it鈥檚 not because you鈥檙e rubbish at what you do, it鈥檚 just that you鈥檙e not quite the right fit for what they鈥檙e looking for.鈥

5.Give yourself a break

Charlotte Carpenter is an independent artist and founder of Baby Woman Records. She says: 鈥淲hen you work in music, you鈥檙e up against maybe 20 nos to one yes. That can really affect your mental health, so it鈥檚 about getting the balance between being a normal human and being a musician. And knowing when to say, 鈥榦k let鈥檚 not do music today.鈥欌
