See our photos and video. Help playing audio/video Shirley Pipe Band The parade began just after midday when dozens of floats, buses, tractors, bands and community groups set off from Camp Hill. Digbeth High Street and surrounding roads had been sealed off in preparation for what has become the biggest St. Patrick's Parade outside of New York and Dublin. As the procession marched down the high street towards the Bullring, thousands caught a glimpse of the attraction that has become an annual tradition in Birmingham since 1996. In addition to St. Patrick himself, the parade included: Thousands flock to see the parade • Horse drawn floats Keep the roads clear! ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ WM's Bob Brolly broadcast live from Camp Hill from midday - 2pm. Carl Chinn then took to the airwaves from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ WM bus which was parked near the Custard Factory. All-day entertainmentOnce the parade had finished at 2pm, the afternoon's entertainment began in and around Digbeth with a free open-air gig on Bradford Street. Numerous local bands took to the stage throughout the afternoon, including ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ WM Introducing favourites Scarlet Harlots, The Heathers, The Destroyers and Birmingham-Irish band The Father Teds. Enjoying the parade Emerald City also opened its doors for fete-style entertainment with hot food and drink stalls, a kids' disco, strolling magicians and clowns and an indoor market.
