The 成人快手 is not responsible for the content of external websites A few years ago Rikki-Lee Roca was living rough on the streets. Today he and his band The Skies have moved a step closer to realising their dream and releasing their debut album to the world. The band have joined new website Slicethepie.com - a non-commercial enterprise that turns every music fan into a record label, allowing fans to finance the band they want to, when they want to, enabling unsigned bands to record and release albums without a record deal. And to help promote the website, The Skies have been granted 拢15,000 by investors. ![]() Rikki on The Session Their success marks a remarkable change in fortunes for the band, who have gone from busking on the streets to 'virtually busking' online and have raised enough money to head into the studio in the process. Rikki-Lee said: "It's all moved so quickly. While I was sleeping rough each day felt like a week now every hour something new and exciting happens. "I always said I'd never sell my guitar, I think that might have been the best decision I ever made." Now Rikki and The Skies are set to turn their lives around, turning their backs on their old lives to start a new one as a bona fide rock band. The Skies, from Reading, are Rikki-Lee, 24 - Vocals; James Lestat, 21 - Guitar; Billy Baker, 21 - Drums and Jason Gale, 19 - Bass.听 Many of the band's songs were composed by Rikki while he was on the streets, or written about the life experiences he had when homeless.
The foursome's debut single reached number 26 in last week's HMV Download chart, the only unsigned act in their top 100, and it is expected that the band will continue to raise further investment over the next few weeks. The Skies are now one of only three bands that have been fully funded via Slicethepie.听 And the revolution looks set to continue as more bands appear well on their way to raising the minimum 拢15,000. The way the website works is that fans from around the world can provide direct finance to their favourite artist and then share in their financial success. It's a model that is at the forefront of the fast-moving transformation of the global music industry. The Skies' single, Bring It On is now available to purchase online. last updated: 09/08/07 Have Your Say
