Find out more about the band, based in Reading, below. Sleep Room formed in the home-counties in the late summer of 2003 when Nigel Weston (guitar) met Ryan Cook (vocals, guitar) via an online musician’s forum. With common ground in their mutual love of Radiohead and their need to make music, they set out to find fellow band members. Richard King (drums) was soon tracked down (online again) and the foundations of Sleep Room were laid. New material was written and a more mature, less commercial direction evolved. In summer 2005 Sleep Room returned to the studio to record their second demo EP – Shut Windows, Draw Curtains – the title of which was taken from a line in a Protect And Survive public information pamphlet. As well as being immensely proud of this recording the sessions also introduced Sleep Room to Lewis Childs of Earth Terminal Studios, who took on the role of 'fifth band member and helped capture their distinctive sound. More live performances closed out 2005 and the start of 2006 was marked by the band’s first national airplay by Gideon Coe on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ 6 Music. The band are currently based in Reading and continue to be influenced by a wide range of artists including (but not limited to): Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Echo And The Bunnymen, Interpol, Led Zep, Elbow, Boards of Canada, Dose, Doors, etc. last updated: 28/09/07 Have Your SaySEE ALSOYou are in: Berkshire > Entertainment > Outdoors and Attractions > Features > Sleep Room |
