Cold Burn were originally founded as a school band back in the summer of 2001 and after a few small changes have merged into the band we have today. The band members consist of Dean Amer on lead guitar, Tim Spindler on rhythm guitar, Paul Piers on bass guitar and Carl Taylor on drums. All have been long term friends even before the band was formed. The band have been in pro rehearsal studios for over a year and a half now which has enabled them to find their own genre and write their own set so as to leave the covers behind. The band had deliberately held back from pro gigs until the balance and the set was right, and have launched onto the pro gig circuit with a bang! First was a concert at the Princess Hall in Aldershot performing in front of local and foreign dignitaries and a reasonable sized home grown fan base, total audience over 250. Then the band received their first 'showcase' concert in Portsmouth where the band was given the following feed back.... Review "A little later than planned, Cold Burn took to the stage to demonstrate how Rock-Ska-Reggae should sound when fused together which such passion as theirs. Many people came up to me and were very surprised that the band had never played the pro circuit before, as they were all very cool with their Intros and focused with their songs. I have no doubt that this band will go far..." Rupert Peters, YO Productions and the Mayfair Recording Studio. This was then followed by qualification (via regional finals) to the Battle of the Bands at the University of Surrey and Guilfest. Having qualified to the final 10 bands, Cold Burn was amongst five bands then chosen for the final on the following day. The band claimed a fantastic second place, losing only to a band that is studying full time at a school of rock! Further gigs this year have been at smaller venues and a regular slot at the new Rock Nights at Farnborough Town FC every Wednesday night have been confirmed having headlined on the opening night with Sucka and Premithon. A summer tour is being planned covering London down to the South West culminating with the finale at this years Airfusion Festival on the main stage in July so that the band can grow their fan base and increase exposure by touring into other areas. Demo The demo CD that can be sent out consists of a few songs, which have all been written and composed by the band. Without you - A Rock/Pop song covering one of the most classically written about experiences, a break up of relationship... A very melodic song, a beautiful guitar solo and some very well written words that are poignant yet very well constructed to put together a story. Venom - A song written to highlight the misuse of drugs and the effects of a drug user and the ultimate price paid by an addict. Performed in a fast and furious rock/punk style with a catchy riff and melodic vocals with some stylish guitar and drum solos. Corporate Loser - a song written about the escape from corporate society from a white collared worker to find new life for himself who is crying out for help. Dreams - Originally composed as an instrumental that was too good to leave as it was, vocals were put to the song in March 2005 for the Battle of the Bands contest and the track went down a real storm. A hit in the making for sure! For Now it’s Goodbye – A great finale to any gig, strong riffs, good harmony and a surprising false ending… the live version finishes with a drawn out ending with rolling drum solos and amazing guitar action. Other tracks ready to perform are: - Be mine (a great reggae track fused with rock), House of Cards (Superb rock/punk track with stunning guitar solos), Single life (Strong punk song with melodic vocal harmony), Its nice to know (rock/ska track with differing tempos and awesome riffs), I will miss you (another strong rock/ska track with great vocals and strong riffs), Remembrance (great reggae/ska/punk track), Nice to know... (new track… feel good, optimistic punk song with great harmonies), Cold Burn Jig.. (Fast n Furious instrumental to get the punters wired and gasping for a drink!) Another review A night at Farnborough Town FC Cold Burn, Sucka! and Premithon…. 18th May 2003 The final band of the night was Cold Burn. Where do you start with Cold Burn? This band is one of the finest I’ve seen in a very long time. Riffs that could cut you down where you stand, vocals in harmony that made your ears want to dance off by themselves and have a skank. They looked comfortable with their surroundings and made the crowd comfortable with them with very little effort. Cold Burn seem to have melted some of the punk genres together to make something extremely special. Did I mention, the band members are only 16!!! Stoff @ FTFC.
