More than 100 volunteers have come together to create poppy cascades in Grantham ahead of the town's Remembrance Day commemorations.

Grantham Arts ran workshops to create military silhouettes that stand alongside 2,000 poppies on show at the Guildhall Arts Centre.

Art and design students from Grantham College worked on the installation, helped by members of St Anne鈥檚 Cubs and Scouts.

South Kesteven District Council said the work would remain on display throughout Remembrance Week.

"It means a lot to me"

The students researched figures from wartime history, before creating four silhouettes - a World War One Tommy soldier, a World War Two paratrooper, a Naval Wren and a Land Girl.

Rebekah Tambling, who helped to design and decorate one of the silhouettes, said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 been a great project to work on, particularly as I am from a military family. It means a lot to me."

Anne Marie Kerr, of Grantham Arts, added. 鈥淐ivic pride is really important to a town, and when you engage the local community in projects like this people really do start to feel that pride.

鈥淲e were delighted to work with the council to produce this installation.鈥
