Episode 6: Bric-a-brac race The Apprentice's Cassandra

Cassandra Lorraine

Margaret is known for her astute comments. During a heated discussion with Lorraine in the boardroom, she announced, 'I think you're the Cassandra of the team...get it right and no one else listens. They don't believe you.'

In ancient Greek mythology, Cassandra was the beautiful daughter of Priam. She was given the gift of prophecy, but after turning down the romantic advances of the God Apollo, he placed a curse that no one would believe her predictions.

This week, project manager Philip refused to believe Lorraine's warning that the Indian carpet was the hidden gem.

Philip was stressed. The sales weren't easy. Doors were closed and no one wanted their rug. Finally with 25 minutes to go they flogged it to a passing man on the street, who bought it off them for the bargain price of £50.

'That's the gem,' she pointedly said as the buyer walked off into the dusk, bending under the weight of the heavy rug.

Sir Alan advises Lorraine not to get intimidated. Wait and see if the feisty candidate can predict a win for her team next week.
