Episode 67

The mysterious woman's warnings do not scare Sìleas and Marsaili away from the castle. Quite the reverse in fact, and the girls are desperate to investigate what is going on in the castle. The mysterious woman once again pleads for the girls to leave. She claims that the ghosts of legends past still roam about this place.

Who? What have they done and what is their legacy? The girls are itching to find out.

Legend has it that Robert the Bruce returned from Ireland to Lochranza Castle in 1306. In the 1490s, James IV used the castle as his base in his campaign against the Lord of the Isles. The puritan Oliver Cromwell used the castle as a seat of power in his campaign against the Royalists. More recently, it has been said that Herge, the creator of Tintin, also used the castle as inspiration in his Tintin tale, The Black Island.

So go on, tell us whose old bones are still rattling around in this castle?

Mysterious woman: Cumaibh air falbh! Tha taibhsean eachdraidheil an seo! Chan eil e sàbhailte dhuibh agus cha bhi na taibhsean idir toilichte! (Keep away! There are historical ghosts here! It's not safe here and the ghosts will not be at all happy!)
