This trophy and tankards are evidence of the glory days of the Beverley Cricket Club. There are a number of interesting objects here. The cricket bat and cigar box and tankards were left to the club by JB Benton, a local landowner. A trophy was made in his honour, and from 1934 to 1993, local villages played for a chance to win it. The cricket ball was presented to the captain of Beverley Town Cricket Club by Mr RA Plimpton in 1909. This shows a long tradition of cricket in the area and pride in its team's achievements. Currently, Beverley Town plays four senior teams.
