Barack Obama souvenir basketball

Barack Obama souvenir basketball

My object was purchased for ten dollars at a party in suburban Washington DC on January 20th 2009. A few hours earlier my thirteen year old son and I had stood in a crowd of two million on the Washington Mall to witness Barack Obama being sworn in as the forty fourth president of the United States. An event which only twenty years ago would have seemed unimaginable
and reminds us 'never to say never'.

The ball which on one side reads Barack Obama and the number 44 and the other side details the slogan 'Yes We Can', Obama's signature, image, and the date of the inaugerationwa . Its one of only a thousand designed, manufactured and sold by an american family. For me this represents the enterprenural spirit of America.

Ironically the ball was made in China. Which also says a lot about the world we live in today.
